Where do thoughts come from? SERIOUSLY! Come on GLP, ideas...

Nobody knows what a thought (or consciousness) is.

Nobody knows what these are either:

Matter
Energy
Space
Time
Light
Gravity
Magnetism
Life
Death

In short, we don't really know what anything is.

Thoughts are the product of stimuli.

They come from what you focus on.

If you look around this forum, you will easily see the proof.


Those who focus on their sexual parts, will always bring fornication into a conversation.

Those who focus on others, will always bring gossip.

Those who focus on their belly, are always talking shit.

Those who focus on books, regurgitate them with fervor.


Those who focus on the world around them, bring scientific discoveries, politics, and all manner of things from the world.



And those few who focus on their maker, the unknown Almighty, well they bring wisdom, wonders and miracles.


If you focus on the thoughts themselves, well you get stuck in a loop.


Focus on no thoughts at all and let them vaporize,

Inner peace.

Not sure I agree with what your saying there. Given exactly the same stimuli and regardless of focus we think different things, often totally random from any trigger or focus that preceded it.

How am I able to visualize something in my head? What are those images in my head made of? Do they take up any space?

I agree with most of what you say about the above list that we may not know exactly what they are, but we tend to have scientific theories (which over time can get redefined) that can measure or predict various things or attributes about them.

With thoughts there is no theory to explain the origin. None that I know of anyway .... we only can observe the effect but know nothing about the cause.

Love, both figuratively and literally, If for no other reason then your ability to have them.

Good questions, I don't't know ... but where did that thought come from in the first place to trigger all that?

Do you believe in the theory that we all make it up as we go along? That say that matter is not solid but just electrical charges. Nothing around us is solid but continuously in motion. So as we think it, it becomes reality. I don't think I believe this myself but I found that theory interesting.

Yeah, heard that and similar sorts of theories previously. All scientific nonsense in my eyes. We can't just think and things materialise. But how and why do we think in the first place?

Each of us at times have absolutely no control of what we think about. Random things can just pop into our heads ... Why? And what is the source of these and all thoughts. Is there any theories at all as to WHY?

Of course we all think differently.

There are too many variables to list!

Age, sex, maturity, upbringing, environment, etc.


My goodness man, you ask a question that has baffled philosophers and sages through the ages, and expect a post that will answer it?




Think on thoughts.

You will arrive at an answer that is sufficient for you.

The answer is actually the simplest- the same as everything else- Love, for truly there is nothing else.
As to the images/imaginations... might this be a valid perspective? Best answer I've ever heard.

it could be a spiritual source. the body is the construct and "vehicle".

That is what some famous person said. I can't remember who, a scientist, I think. He said that the human body is a biological machine, that is operated by a ghost.

Thanks for that ... but can't be love alone as we all have some not very nice thoughts at times (to put it mildly!) which are an eternity away from, love lol! Though I like the notion that all things can come from love

Yeah, that is a good question. Scientists do say that things pop into existence when we look at them. It is part of quantum physics. I have seen several you tube videos explaining this theory. But it never made much sense to me.

How about animals? Right now my dogs are crying because my husband went outside. The thing is, my dogs don't usually cry when he leaves the house, except for on Saturday. They are conditioned to think they will go over to see my husband's dad on Saturday because they usually do and when my husband left the house, the thought he left without them. Are they thinking? What would an animal's thoughts be like? Just wondering, but I suppose none of us know.

Yet even that is love cause the possibility, potential and opportunity for it to be so... is love defined unconditionally, is it not? Where is the love if certain things are off limits? defeats itself don't you see?

Very good question, but why don't you investigate yourself?

Follow thoughts to their source and you will find something very amazing. Non intellectually and not conceptually, follow it experientially.

Where does this body come from? Same place as thoughts come from. Science says that this body or any matter is 99% empty space. Then what holds up 'matter', this 1% ? Why can't you go through wall if it is empty space?
There are some kind of forces which regulates this behavior.

It lies deep down within each one of us, waiting to be discovered.

It is fine if you want to bring religion into this discussion and the words of Jesus BUT you know that the Hindu people have thoughts, and the Muslim people think. I just don't think you can throw the "Christian answer" into this mix. It doesn't work that way. We are all one. So you found Jesus, or so you say. Maybe someone else will find something else and it goes on and on. God is different for everyone and some people exist just fine without the belief in any gods.

Everything I parrot is directly attribtal to those books, especially number 1. Your answers are in it. Never could find book 2 &3 on line so them I bought them in paperback off Amazon.

My question would be

No, what Satan did was to corrupt Eve into thinking that nakedness was shameful and bad...she ate from the tree of knowledge of evil and wickedness...God wanted humanity to flourish and grow without evil, to develop and grow spiritually without the distractions and destruction that the knowledge of evil brings...

We are not simply a body made up of electrongs, atoms, blah blah blah, every time a scientist describes "something" in such terms he is simply describing the type of dance "something" is doing. We confuse ourselves with nouns. We think we are nouns.
