Let me give you an example of what the OP is talking about.

Go out in the middle of some place like Kansas or Nebraska and drive a hundred miles down some state highway.

Now, how many places will you find to park overnight?

Almost all is either fenced farms, ranches, posted public land or government areas or fee charged recreation areas.

Maybe a Walmart or a truck stop. Maybe a $20+ pet night recreation area. Yes, you can hide out somewhere. Again, she you have to.

What happened to just finding a nice spot off the road and pitching a tent?

Come on, there is no where to run. This is a worldwide movement. To say it won't affect me is a fantasy.

In the 70's and 80's I traveled the whole country on my Italian motorcycle(s) staying in KOA's. Sometimes if I went in after dark and the office was closed I'd get up before the sun, shower and leave and not have to pay.

But I did pay most of the time anyway because the places are (were) fantastic! Always made friends with other people from the US and all over the world on bikes doing the same thing. For $12 or $14 you get a safe clean campsite, shower, sometimes a swimming pool.

I stayed in KOA's (never found out what KOA stood for) from coast to coast and border to border. Talk about FREEDOM! My bike, sleeping bag, tent, NO PHONE!, 45 mpg, no plan, just ride. I went everywhere and met the greatest people doing the same thing. For CHEAP!
