"I remember when we were having a drill..."

Doesn't necessarily refer to December 14th, and Oz should have just let the kid talk instead of constantly prompting him, but it is interesting still...

I hear him say "I was like, like hiding under when we were having a drill."

It sounds more to me like he was saying they were hiding under (their desks most likely?)like they did when they had a drill. He is young and on nat`l television, its understandable his diction and expressing himself would be difficult.

I believe SH stinks as much as the next person. I do however believe that these kids had been drilled before. When they speak of a drill it would be in the context of previous drills. Relating how the situation unfolded just like the drills. Which gives me much pause, if you are gonna ff a school, condition the kids to be in a classroom under their desks where they can still be targets as opposed to opening a window and finding shelter outside.

Purely my conjecture but I dont think this is a young man saying they were having a drill. At least that is not what I think I hear, having played it over a good dozen times.

Sandy Hook had an evacuation drill on October 17 2012. Connecticut public schools has State mandatory drill every months. Curiously, parents will don't know in advance when those drills will take place.

As a teacher, just two towns away for 20 years, I asked the principle why we had designated alarms, drills for fire, etc. but NEVER for an earthquake.

NEVER got an answer, as most have NO SCIENCE BACKGROUND at ALL, and WIILL NOT admit their failure to recognize this shortcoming and change.

Remember a fire drill in February ( you are forced to go outside, away from the building ), with snow on ground, chilly wind blowing, and of course the children were NOT allowed to stop for coats !

I remarked that, after 20 minutes out there , a LOT of doctors would be busy for the next week.
