But then your belief that the world was created in 6000 years is in opposition to other magic believers who believe in the literal six days. |

If you take the time to put aside blind faith, as a child puts aside his belief in Santa Clause, you will open yourself up to a world of science. Science isn't something to run and shy away from, just because it defeats that which is false. Science is simply the investigative tools of discovering and verifying facts. Science is the process by which we test, and then validate or reject ideas. I have nothing against religion, so long as it is based on 1) Direct Experience, and/or 2) Science. For instance, I practice Buddhism. I also practice Yoga. Both are fully comphrensive spiritual paths, and both are fully in agreement with science. Religion can be a VERY positive experience, but true religion has nothing to do with blind faith, magic powers, miracles, etc. True religion is the science and understanding of Consciousness. |

Darwin never touched on how the universe began, or even how life started. Darwins theory of evolution explains the diversity of species through natural selection. The theory of evolution has evidence to back it's claim, just go to any museum and they will show a you a map of the fossil record and also the genetic patterns that trace the same course. The age of the earth is roughly 4.5 billion years, my sister is a doctor of geology and actually gave me a zircon which is about 3 billion years old. So that's the biblical story of creation out the window for me and many others. This is also why I'm an atheist: Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it. ~ Christopher Hitchens. |

Evolution is an enabler for atheism. Evolution gives atheists a basis for explaining how life exists apart from a Creator God. Evolution denies the need for a God to be involved in the universe. Evolution is the “creation theory” for the religion of atheism. According to the Bible, the choice is clear. We can believe the Word of our omnipotent and omniscient God, or we can believe the illogically biased, “scientific” explanations of the blind.
