My dad has an IQ of 150 and he's a 57 year old Christian.

He's a ham radio operator and since he's a ham radio operator he won many awards and is qualified to exam people who wish to become a ham radio operator.

He was also part of the first C++ qualified batch to enter the work force.

And all this computer stuff is just a hobby too him. His real talent is being a handy man.

His name was engraved on a metal disc and will be sent too mars and also on a satellite (Or has been sent) I don't keep in touch with him.

I don't actively believe that there is 'no god'. i more have an absence of belief that there 'is a god' if you know what i mean?

if this makes me an atheist, well i guess i'm an atheist, but i don't identy as one.

i just found it bloody interesting that a comprehensive study was done that found religious people to be 'on average' a bit dimmer then agnostic & atheist people.

just interesting is all. i post it here & christian start making up all sorts of crap why the study is flawed.

why can't you accept the results might be accurate? would it challenge your faith if it were true?

also...i have spent my entire life surrounded by hypocritical christians, who despite having a veneer of being kind & giving etc. seem quite transparent to me.

yes they do have some level of 'niceness/morality' about them, but no more so then my agnostic friends who work for human rights outfits, charities etc.

Both my parents are devote christians & my 3 other siblings are christian. infact...in my whole extended family is. i am pretty much the only one who has questioned it & abandoned it.

my poor sister is trapped in a relationship with a controlling christian man, who lords over their 2 kids & rules the house with an iron rod. i hate the way he struts around the house and claims it his right to be like that due to the bibles teachings on a man & womans place in teh household.

my father, has around 5000 books on Christianity & philosophy, has read all of them & knows a SHITLOAD about it. yet, he sits at home pretty much alone/rec-loosed & has basically no friends. He just trudges of to church on a sunday & straight home again. He never calls me, or wants to do anything. wish my a happy birthday etc.

my mother, prattles on to me how she places God first in everything and is such a good godly woman. yet, she is horrible to people sometimes. she made my brothers partner break down in tears when she told her she shouldnt smoke an looked old & ugly. & that she didnt appreciate that her & my borther were living together out of wedlock.

she told me to my face.

now when i take my 2yr old daughter around to spend time with her grandparents. they force her to say 'amen' & 'thankyou jesus' at the dinner table. I just let it slide, because it wold be more trouble then its worth to kick up a stink about it. & i actually want my daughter to know her grandparents...even if i have little respect for them.

you get the drift, i have many more examples of christians in my life who i have little or no respect for.

lastly, the response's ive gotten from people on here just seem 'mean spirited' mocking in some instances....but im not surprised...it more just validates what i just rambled on about.

i really cant be fucked reading over this and fixing up the grammar/spelling, so you just gonna have to deal with it.

This is good to hear, Phoenix. I know we've had our 'run ins' a couple of times over the years. We have also shared a few laughs, on voice chat, for example, in the past.

I have a similar story to yours. I got involved in the occult when I was about 16 years old. Boy, did I ever regret it. Yes, it impacted my family for several years after.

I also heard a voice one time, like you. It was a dark, rasping voice. Plain as day, and in broad daylight. I'm not going to post here what it said. But it shook me to the core. I know what I heard.

About the same time I saw what I could only describe as a demon.

Again, plain as day, sunlit summer evening. It walked right in front of me right across my living room wall. A distance of about 18 feet it walked, while I looked at it, in full view. I know for a fact that I saw what I saw. This was a SOLID BLACK SHADOW. I posted the whole story several years ago on one of the 'shadow people' threads, but I can't find it now through searching. I know that this thing, whatever it was, fully intended to be seen. It intended for me to see it, which I did. The reasons for believing this, I stated on that shadow people thread mentioned above. It nearly gave me a heart attack. My sister was out at the shop at the time and she returned to find me clawing at the front door on my hands and knees, literally, trying to get out...LoL...funny now, but I couldn't breathe at the time. We went all over the house trying to re-create how this could have happened, using shadow, lighting, etc.

I know what I saw.

This happened 32 years ago. I still don't know what it was, but my best guess is that it was some kind of demon. But whatever it was, I know that I saw it. If you doubt my story as I have related it here, you can PM me and I will give you a link to my sister, who will verify what I have said.

Both me and my sister also heard, very clearly, the voices of children crying (clearly) right outside of our bedroom windows. I ended up sleeping in my sister's bed with her many times, because we were so scared...LoL.

There are other things. Many other things. I don't like to talk about them much in case they return. All I would say is that the occult world is real. There are things out there that we don't normally see in our daily lives, but they are certainly there, and they CAN and WILL intrude on our daily, comfortable lives if we allow them entrance.

Don't mess with ouija boards or other occult practices. They can seriously damage your life. I'm not kidding.

I just found out about this, and it's so awesome that you belong to Jesus now!
