Why do people who do not understand scientific principles write newspaper articles about scientific topics that they do not understand ?
A case to my point ....

this article from the UK...

The journalist asserts that since patients with documented cardiovascular

disease who switched from butter to safflower margarine did not live as

long as those who continued using butter....then butter intake is healthier

than vegetable-sourced spreads.

This is a fallacious conclusion since one margarine ( safflower oil , which is

rich in one type of fatty acid content , i.e. omega 6 ) is not analogous to

all other vegetable= sourced fats which could be used as butter substitutes.

Other vegetable -sourced spreads which are rich in monounsaturated

fats and/ or mixed oil spreads containing olive oil, palm oil, and flaxseed

oil are far less inflammation-inducing than the omega 6 oils in safflower oil

happen to be. SO ...not alll vegetable oils are the same !

Additionally, it is quite likely that once an individual ALREADY HAS the

arterial plaque blockage from cholesterol-laden butter diet, the use of

omega 6 -rich safflower oil causes inflammation in the arterial wall

adjacent to the plaque , which then leads to complete blockage

causing a stroke or heart attack .

Simple -minded thinking leads to erroneous conclusions !

Critical analytical thinking is lacking in so many arenas of public

discourse ! NO WONDER THIS WORLD IS IN SUCH A MESS !
