Anonymous Coward User ID: 27430942 Canada 02/11/2013 05:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are you all really flipping shit about a government contract for body removal? This is Canada not the US, we don't have counties like you do that provide this kind of service. In more rural areas the Provinces normally contract out these services. Probably saves a ton over having to hire a bunch of glorified Public Service taxi drivers that will get paid way too much and if they do ever fuck up are impossible to fire because they belong to some Public Service Union they can whine to. ps. a Unit means a dead body |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27430942 Canada 02/11/2013 05:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP don't worry, it looks like a normal bid they probably send out every 5months to a year to get the best price. All buyers do this for every business. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25225980 In fact, this makes sense if you work in purchasing. ok... let me put it this way. There are 15 orders... each order is for a number of cities at least 5 or more. So that is close to 100 different cities all at once. Why would they need to supplement their corners? Are they expecting a mass influx of dead bodies? BC only has a population of 4 million... that is the WHOLE Of British Columbia. There aren't even 100 cities in British Columbia... there's infact only 49 cities (places with over a population of 5,000) The majority of the names your seeing and classifying as cities are small hamlets and villages aka entities without their own police service, morgue, etc etc |

Why such a short 9 mnth contract - who the hell is going to gear up specially for that? They seem to be expecting a LOT of extra bodies - and probably not in a natural disaster scenario. Combine that with all the hollow point ammo, gun confiscation, DHS insider info etc.............................get ready folks they don't plan all this stuff for nothing. |

"Each year the BCCS investigates approximately 25% of all deaths in the province. In 2010, there were 31,428 deaths in B.C., 7,825 of which were reported to the BCCS." 2010 BC Coroner Service 2010 annual report. I'm sure number is nothing when compared to, let say, the state of California. It doesn't make sense why they would need that much cold storage and transportation. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 27430942 Canada 02/11/2013 05:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why would the normal coroners office not handle dead bodies? It says 3 and half years right on the damn contracts. Why the fuck does some guy saying he's never seen it before mean it's unusual? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 29943859 United States 02/11/2013 05:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Likely the contracts with the current service providers are expiring and the Ministry of Justice have opened bidding on the new contracts. There is no info anywhere here to indicate that TPTB are expecting an increase in the number of dead bodies in these areas. When people die someone has to transport the bodies to morgues and funeral homes. Nothing sinister at all... Although I do wonder why this would fall under the Ministry of Justice rather than a Health Department. |

I agree... it seems a disproportionate number of contractors in relationship to the population. Thats what the guy was saying on the video as well |

Thats what the guy was saying on the video as well The reason there are many contracts isnt the population but the Physical size of BC. Outside of the major cities which these contracts arent covering (aka Vancouver area) and Victoria which they are(surprised they dont have their own service actually). The rest are for wide geographically seperated areas. Remember BC is a massive province with a huge mountain range going through it and people living dispersed. A contract in Kamloops isnt going to cover areas 12 hour drives away, or across ferries and past mountain ranges. |

The old contract is running out and this is the govt way so squeezing them to take less money. The contract, if you read it, is for a 4 year team with an estimated 260 pickups per year, based on prior years. This info is given to help estimate costs and earnings for those that submit a bid to cost out their submitted bid. For God's sake people, death is a part of the life cycle. |

Anyone who deals with the govt must submit a bid. Odds are the old contract expired and they are doing some fishing. You guys are making mountains out of molehills. |
