Who wants an educated debate? Topic: Evidence Supports the Theory of Evolution
For this debate,
Definitions:
Scientific evidence : Data gained through the scientific method, which can be summarized as "testable, repeatable, falsifiable."
The Theory of Evolution: Change in the genome allowing for the formation of a new species. For this debate, this change must be capable, ie. have the driving force, to mutate, or otherwise, bacterium to homo sapiens.
Supports: Bear all or part of the weight of; hold up.

Debate rules:
D.R.1. No trolling
D.R.2. No vulgarities
D.R.3. No plagiarism
D.R.4. Forfeit=autoloss

Debate Format:
D.F.1. R1 for acceptance only
D.F.2. R5 for closing arguments only
D.F.3. Con will begin, Pro may begin refuting in R2, but he may not refute in R5. This is to allow an equal number of refutations.

My burden will be to show that The Theory of Evolution is testable, repeatable, falsifiable, and fits known empirical evidence. I will do this first by refuting the claims made by my opponent, and then by presenting the core concept of the very thread the opponent has cited: the twin nested hierarchy.

So, Would anybody care to begin this intelligent debate?

Whatever, even after your debate, it will still only be the "theory" of evolution.

true that, and maybe not even that now. In the science world the debate now revolves around the words macro-evolution, as so many of the still current textbooks contain downright lies and deliberately forged evidence over the decades, a curious thing indeed, i mean if evolution is so right, its proponents don't need to lie about do they?, or they like al gore and the climate warming brigade, locked themselves into their lies publicly and cant back out, so they discredit and destroy all other views(with guess whose money and ivory tower support).

Ok, evolution takes place over millions and billions of years not thousands. First thing you have to do is explain how dinosaur and human footprints are found together.

Then you can kick off your debate.

I'd be very surprised if anybody takes you up on this and sticks to the brief.

But then again, I suspect you may be making a point with this...

Those have already been disproven. Even many creationists are embarrassed by these things. The fossil record is very clear. All that it would take to disprove evolution would be to find even one fossil out of place and evolution is dead. Creationists should go out there and try to find ape man fossils in South America instead of trying to use the arm of the federal government to force their views in taxpayer funded schools. They can't find the evidence of course because humans evolved in Africa not South America. Not that I'm going to convince you or the majority of the American people anyway.

That's the thing with it, is it just looked like a piece of gear because it was so geometrical. Minerals and shit form like that naturally, they form amazingly ordered structures because that's their habit. It is the habit of certain people to see things where there isn't and anthropomorphise everything.

no further comment from you OP? so basically you've come in, done a shit and left. A big stinky self important one, which may I add is not actually one which has exampled what you would hope to. For example, you have mentioned here an R5. Nowhere in your statement does it say what an R5 is, or an R1 for that matter. As I said I am a scientist and I am unable to decipher your self inflated bullshit, because you have not made it decodable.

so, indeed, how is that fair to your opponent, if it is not able to be deciphered? that is taking a shot at someone in totally unfair conditions and makes YOU look like a dick. if you want to look superior then you have to do it fairly, in fair conditions... this isn't. How does this make stupid people look stupid when anyone when given just the information in this post can't decipher it either? it just makes YOU look stupid, OP.

so well done, fuckface. nice one.

God and evolution need not be mutually exclusive.

Both theories are just that, and both can have a case for being absurd.

Round 5, round 1, I would say, although how the fuck you'd define rounds on an open forum is beyond me.

OP is using fancy ass debating terms, not sure why... given the arena it's not really possible to hold a formal style debate with defined rounds and shit, maybe it's an attempt to intimidate any potential opposition, which probably means he has no real desire to debate.

Maybe he just recently joined the school debating team and is all puffed up with his newfound lexicon.

On a web forum you don't need all that shit, you just make a post, state your position and then have at it.

It's a bullring mentality, you have to have the moxy to stand your ground and take all comers on all sides.

Way more fun than boring ass formal debating.

There is no "theory of", it is not a theory anymore. The only reason that label gets thrown around is because of the large religious segment of the population

Evolution is the change in the inherited characteristics of biological populations over successive generations. Evolutionary processes give rise to diversity at every level of biological organisation, including species, individual
organisms and molecules such as DNA and proteins.

Why is it that people have a problem with this? This has been proven time and time again, observed, experimented on, and we've been making use of it to breed our livestock and food plants for centuries.

evolution has occurred over like.. 3.8 BILLION years... the time scale is immense. Some animals have not changed for a long time, that is correct. That is not evidence against evolution, it just means that you don't understand how evolution works. The sphinx is what, at most.. 11,000 years old if you take the oldest dating from weathering into consideration? that's FUCK ALL in evolutionary terms.

A common misconception about evolution is that animals as a whole species morph into a complete new species and that none of the old species should rightfully remain. that's not how it works.... there is an original population and a small group of it specialise in a particular way to exploit a different recourse or they are perhaps geographically isolated from the main population or something.

The original population may continue on relatively unchanged for a very long time because there is weak selection pressures acting on them, while a small group of them evolved into another species. If some lions broke away and became different, while the rest of them didn't, the fact that the original group's morphology still exists is not evidence that no lions went through heavy or different selection pressures and became genetically and morphologically different.
