I've had this discussion with catholics in real life. They don't have a clue what their own religion is even about or its origins. Catholicism attracts those who won't let go of their sinful lifestyles, but want to fool themselves into thinking they'll get to heaven by putting a 20 in the offering plate and abstaining from something meaningless once a year.

I here ya. I grew up Catholic and have been pointing out all of these things to my parents for years but they will not wake up. I am convinced it is a form of spiritual deception. It is sort of like arguing with a zombie.
