Pope's involvement in Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God
Recently a documentary aired on HBO that suggested the role of then Cardinal John Ratzinger in the coverup of the deep rot of pedophilia in the Catholic Church. When I saw it I thought that it was hypocritical for the same person who indulged priest's pedophilia in the Church to have become the head of it.

If anyone else has seen it, it was startling to hear
that there was NO way that Ratzinger did not know.
Then the reality that he did nothing sinks in...

The news today, in the face of this recent documentary
going mainstream on cable, does not surprise me. He
may have been forced out by this development but it
also seems the best and only way for the Church to clear
the path for someone else to help heal the rot.

Thanks for the bump -- watch the doc
and then share what you thought. It was
every single report of priest sexual
misconduct was channeled to Ratzinger's desk.

According to Catholic doctrine, the Pope
is infallible--

This documentary clearly shows this Pope is
not and was not, and indicates rot fomenting
from even prior to his becoming Pope. For
me, his role in covering up and allowing evil
to grow did not make him a good candidate
for being a Pope. Under his "shepherding"
countless number of children were abused
when he had direct involvement in the
handling of these situations. Now, he goes
quietly to a monastery and his own role in
the abuse will be buried.
