There is a hose running to the booster. Run the car for a few minutes. Then remove the hose. If a sucking sound is very noticable then the booster is good. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 29781798 Germany 02/11/2013 01:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe you need a brake flush? I lost my brakes a few weeks back while going downhill @ 45mph in a 2001 Grand Am GT and needed new brake lines because they had rusted out and they also did a complete brake flush as well. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 31451023 United States 02/11/2013 01:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | thanks guys.,Is getting the booster ( master cylinder ) an expensive thing to get changed, is this something you can do yourself. ? Quoting: Generalpatton1 34164875 If you have never done one before have a garage do it, after all it is your brake system and if something goes wrong (your brakes fail) the garage will get sued and not you. |

Brake boosters rarely fail, but if they do. it means the brake fluid has been neglected and never changed. Diesels do not make their own vacuum, so there is a pump on the end of the camshaft. |

Front and back. Matbe a flush first to see if that makes any difference, ive been doing the pump bleed with another person for ages and nothing come through, surley the fluid would come through eventually |

Old fluid colects water and water wont compress as easily as fluid. Its hard on the booster and pump because they are working harder to compress water in the lines. |
