First black pope? Emerging contenders include cardinals from Africa
The Roman Catholic Church very well could elect its first black pope — or, at the least, its first pope of non-European descent, according to various strategists and analysts.

The Telegraph reports that two princes of the church have emerged as top contenders for the top spot: Cardinals Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson of Ghana and Francis Arinze of Nigeria. Electing one would send a black man — for the first time in history, or at least since the early Middle Ages, according to The Telegraph — to head the church’s spiritual direction.

He is the current president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace since his appointment by Pope Benedict XVI on 24 October 2009. He had previously served as Archbishop of Cape Coast. He was elevated to the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II in 2003.[1]

Reflections on the African Popes

According to the Liber Pontificalis, three popes-Pope St Victor I (ca186-198), Pope St Miltiades (311-14), and Pope St Gelasius (492-496)-were Africans. The Liber Pontificalis is composed of a series of biographical entries, which record the dates and important facts for each pope.

It is the oldest and most detailed chronicle dating from the Early Church. The Liber Pontificalis is dated from the sixth century. The record of names begins with St Peter. As the work progressed the entries became longer and more detailed. The Liber Pontificalis continued to be written until 1431.

The African popes in question are said to have come from the North African area that is present-day Algeria, Mauretania, Numidia, and Tunisia. Historians name this area the maghreb. Today it is mostly Muslim. The indigenous people of North Africa are Berbers, brown skinned as among the Tuaregs and Algerians.

By the time of Pope Victor I, the Roman aristocracy had large land holdings on the Mediterranean coast. Carthage was the center.2 The language was Latin. The Berbers lived in the rural areas and the larger towns. Carthage was the primacy. Small scattered dioceses in the rural areas. The indigenous population, the Berbers, gradually accepted Christianity, but the details of evangelization are unclear.

Explainer: How is a new Pope chosen?

THE ANNOUNCEMENT of the forthcoming resignation of Pope Benedict XVI will throw new focus on the peculiar mechanics by which a new pope is elected.

For only the ninth time in a century, the world’s cardinals will assemble in Rome for a secretive event – which could potentially take weeks – to decide on the new supreme ruler of the Roman Catholic Church.

Though it’s considered a monarchy by most political theorists – and, in fact, one of only six absolute monarchies, where the head of state holds total executive, law-making and judicial power – the papacy is a slightly more unusual one, in that it is elected.

The electorate, however, is limited: the power to choose a new Pope falls not even merely to the world’s cardinals (who number 209 at present), but those under the age of 80.

This means that, presently, there are only 118 voting members of the College of Cardinals.

Who Will Replace Pope Benedict XVI?

Daily Mail Online has printed in full the betting odds on who will be the next Pope. It does not include a long shot which could be Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York. Don't underestimate an Irish American's charm, ability to play the game and toughness.

It appears that none of them will be great on LGBT issues or women in the clergy.

A black poop?
Go see your doctor ASAP!

Black, tarry stools (poop) with a foul odor can be the result of something benign, such as eating certain foods or taking iron supplements. A serious cause of black stool would be internal bleeding. When the black color in stool is from blood, it is known as "melena." The dark color indicates that the blood has been in the body for some time, and that the bleeding is coming from higher up in the gastrointestinal tract.

Hey Opus Dei, you know who I am. I'd like to become the new real black pope, meaning, you nominate an afro front Pope and you nominate me ... the incarnation of Horus as the underworld Black Pope. I know the Knights Templar had pressure from the Aliens and Bogey One to put the Opus Dei on the rope to make the Pope resign and in the same breath, reveal myself, the antichrist Apopheros as the real vessel of immortality.

Ra is afrocanadian, so should be the next Pope.
And I should reproduce with a asian woman to make the full circle and to build new Bogey's to protect the Solar system from enemy threats.

You know where I live Opus Dei, just gimme the Call and I shall become the new hope for

Yes, truly interesting, indeed! I've been reading a few articles today dealing with how this ties in with Bible prophecy. I've never heard of the following, have you?:

The late Pope John Paul II was a man with a mission. His perceived mission tracks closely with the document recently issued by the Catholic Church. His vision was driven by a theological / political understanding of the great struggle between good and evil in the modern world.

Father Malachi Martin, former Jesuit at the Vatican, revealed much about the Holy Fathers thinking in his 1990 book, The Keys of This Blood. John Paul believed that there was a 3-way struggle for world domination going on between Communism, the West and the Church, headed by the Pope.

This was a struggle that he believed Rome had to win in order to safeguard the rights of the peoples of the world. He also believed that the Catholic Church would win that struggle, aided by a supernatural, powerfully psychic vision of Mary that would be visible to the entire globe.

Did you catch that? This vision would produce an “engulfing chaos” that would lead to mass conversion of the peoples of the world to Roman Catholicism and acceptance of the Pope as the universal spiritual leader of mankind.

Re: First black pope? Emerging contenders include cardinals from Africa
Benedict's resignation renews calls for an African pope

Pope Benedict XVI's resignation has sparked calls for his successor to come from Africa, home to the world's fastest-growing population and the front line of key issues facing the Roman Catholic Church.

Around 15 percent of the world's 1.2 billion Catholics live in Africa and the percentage has expanded significantly in recent years in comparison to other parts of the world.

Much of the Catholic Church's recent growth has come in the developing world, with the most rapid expansions in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Names such as Ghana's Peter Turkson and Nigerian John Onaiyekan have been mentioned as potential papal material, as has Francis Arinze, also from Nigeria and considered a possibility when Benedict was elected, but who is now 80.

Re: First black pope? Emerging contenders include cardinals from Africa
"On this order, the man who in 2002 correctly predicted that the pope succeeding John Paul II would be named Benedict XVI, Ronald L. Conte Jr. believes the next pope will be Cardinal Francis Arinze and that he will take the name Pius XIII. This name (Pius) is associated historically with popes who emphasized authoritative doctrine during their pontificates. Cardinal Arinze fits this description, and Conte interprets this qualification as best fulfilling "Peter the Roman" as a pope who "will reaffirm the authority of the Roman Pontiff over the Church; this authority is based on his place as Successor of Peter" and "will emphasize the supremacy of the Roman Catholic faith and the Roman Catholic Church above all other religions and denominations, and it's authority over all Christians and all peoples of the world." To this, Conte adds, "During the reign of Pope Peter the Roman, the great apostasy begins" and this pope will mark "the first part of the tribulation during our generation." Conte envisions this apocalypse beginning in 2012 when, as he sees it, Benedict suddenly dies or steps down and is replaced by Petrus Romanus. This followed by a series of cascading events resulting in World War III, which is triggered when Iranian-backed terrorists explode a nuclear bomb in New York City. The great tribulation begins, and by July 2013, Rome is destroyed when it is struck by a nuclear missile."
