I'm an able bodied seaman and I work on ships in the Gulf of Mexico. I don't feel bad for the passengers. I do feel bad for the crew however. Could you imagine being a citizen of a third world country getting paid a slave wage and risking your life to put out a fire. Then, having to deal with all those over privileged people. I wonder what "automatic" fire system they had in the engine. It was probably a C02 system that had to be manually pulled. Then, all the crew has to evacuate that area do that they don't asphyxiate. I am sure before that order was given; many were in harms way to assess the situation. There are no automatic sprinklers for an engine room fire as most of the time the fire is a class b or c which you wouldn't put out with water. So, automatic???

Anyway, I would prefer fighting for hot food, getting a free trip with all expenses paid, plus another free trip, with cold showers, pooping in bags and feces running down the walls... I would prefer that over burning alive, drowning, or having to abandon ship any day.
