If you did then you would already know what cameras are good. Meaning you can get a beautiful image very large with 10 megs. I have a canon 60D , with a good lens. I spent about 2,000 on this. its an amateur set up, but I am cool with it. |

Different guns for different needs. I would do some research and then find a place you can touch and try different cameras with different lenses. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 34205869 United States 02/11/2013 11:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have used quite a few and I think the Pentax cameras are pretty nice. Have a K30 and it has tons of features, nice color, great ISO 1600 and 3200 and its pretty cheap. Huge battery life. Cant even remember when I last charged it. Just saw it advertised online on sale somewhere. A good match is a sharp 17-70mm lens or there abouts. Skip the kit lens. Best is not under $1000. Best would be one of the full frame cameras or the Pentax 645d if you have deep pockets. |

I learned a lot this way. My arena was to capture swim meets. It's really true. Ask a lot of questions from others; professionals and non. |

I set up the lighting on lake michigan and she took it. Not a great camera, I think about 6 megs. Use it in manual mode, read , practice, take notes. The learning curve with digital is super fast. |

I never touched this shot. It never saw photoshop, well, I cropped it and maybe sharpened it a bit, but it was not needed. |

It's not about he MP any more, it's back to the artist. WHAT are you going to be shooting? I have been a photographer for many years... Back in the day, it was about the lenses and the methods. These days, it's about the CCD's and "which software package" are your using. I use all Canon equipment. (Several bodies, ALL USM lenses.) But then again, I know what I'm after. What are YOU after? One of these days... A *REAL* rain is gonna come and wash all this scum off the streets. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 11591025 United States 02/12/2013 12:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Best DIGITAL CAMERA is the one you have on you. I have a Canon 5d mark II and it is usually not on me due to the size and amount of gear needed for specific shots and results. If you miss any great photo opportunities because of this then the best camera just became the worst. But besides that, I would recommend the Canon 5d mark II or III for being the best Canon model. The 1D is large and not easily manageable for the average to frequent user. If you are on a budget def. go with the Canon T2i. It boasts something like 18 megapixels and can record in full 1080p which means you can have super great photographs and videos. If you are to only get one lens, I would get a 50mm to go with it. Either the 1.8 or 1.4 aperture selection. They do make a 1.2 aperture version which is the L series and is very very expensive. The 1.8 will run you near 100 bucks and the 1.4 will run you about 250-300 bucks. The 5d mark II is pushing 1500.00 used and the mark III version will cost twice that. The t2i will cost you roughly 300-600 whether new or used they don't range to high. With a kit lens it could cost you near 600-800 range. Hope this helps! |

But do you think my pictures came out of my camera like that? This one came out washed up, and I worked all over: [link to www.flickr.com] This one I made bluelish: [link to www.flickr.com] You can see on the leaves on the background. Digital photos are not meant to be taken only. They are to be worked over, for the best results. Nice. Have a look at untouched: [link to s1019.photobucket.com] One of these days... I am old generation too, I remember shooting 8x10 E-6 with old deerdorf, and showing up on location with no meter,,, used the ol sunny rule, shot 3 tested one and waited to push or pull. I have done a lot of stupid things in this business, but would not trade it for anything. |

Basically, I need a good high megapixel camera to shoot large paintings, do landscape and still life photography, and some portrait photography. Any recommendation for lenses would be appreciated. Right now, I am eyeing Canon T4i, is it better then T3i? |

The pancake 40 is another inexpensive option and may be better suited for a crop body. |

If I remember it has HD video also. I think this would be great for O.P. My son got one for Christmas and he's taken some amazing shots with it. Last night he borrowed my 70-200 2.8L, lol...should've seen how big his eyes got when he picked it up. |
