Okay, FWIW, I have a problem with the so called experts here.
I have a close family member who is a retired engineer (Redstone). He would never be so bold as to make 100% predictions or say things like "math never lies". Anytime we have talked about events over the years he would always put his .02 in but throw out a caveat about unexpected variables.
Anytime you make a prediction based on a mathematical model, you cannot completely predict the variable that nature plays. If you could, then we would have 100% forecasts every time.
So, I'm a little leery when someone says something will "never" happen as opposed to saying something is "unlikely" to happen.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34238343 Sorry to say but dr astro is right, the numbers never lie 100% chance it doesn't hit Ty dr astro for all the hard work you have put into disproving alll the doomsayers Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33417634 In a situation like this, with an endless number of variables, it can never be 100%. Even with something simplistic as household cleaners, they can't label it 100% effective, because nothing is ever a 100% certainty. But hey, take the word of an invisible man behind the nickname of Dr. Astro straight to the bank, because we all know he is the supreme ruler of knowledge, he knows all. There is no 100% certainty with any asteroid, the same applies to 2012 DA14. Although I'm quite sure will be alright, it's quite ignorant to claim we are 100% safe, and so are you if you take his word for it.
