No. As MLK said, men should be judged by the content of their character, and that is what the good ones do, white and black. And these are the ones who rise to the top, usually.

You probably won't believe me, but I am white and I root heartily for good, hardworking honest black folk to 'make it', and most of the white folks I know do too. We are all Americans and what you do and how you live affects me and my family. We are together.

Here's an example: I am a white woman. I was in the National Guard when I was younger and the Guard Unit was in a country town. I lived in a city about 40 miles away and would hitch a ride into the Unit with a black Guard member, Howard. Howard was a Christian, sweet as could be and a really hard worker. Almost everyone at the unit was white. After several years one of the older white men who worked with Howard told me about how Howard had really changed his attitude about black men and that the other guys felt the same way too. He said Howard was a really hard worker and I knew Howard's good attitude impressed everyone also.

Sadly Howard died young-- in his late 30's. I don't know what happened. My Dad told me he read about it in the newspaper.
