- locusts are depicted as having “hair as women’s hair.” In harmony with the Scriptural principle that the woman’s long hair is a sign of her subjection to her husbandly head, the hair of these symbolic “locusts” must represent the subjection of those whom they symbolize to the one who is shown in the prophecy to be head and king over them.

Abaddon, the angel of the abyss—who is he?

At Revelation 9:11 [9:11? hmnmnn -never noticed that], the word “Abaddon” is used as the name of “the angel of the abyss.” The corresponding Greek name Apollyon means “Destroyer.” In the past century there were efforts made to show that this text prophetically applied to individuals such as Emperor Vespasian, Muhammad, and even Napoleon, and the angel was generally regarded as “satanic.” It should be noted, however, that at Revelation 20:1-3 the angel having “the key of the abyss” is shown to be God’s representative from heaven, and rather than being “satanic,” he binds and hurls Satan into the abyss. Commenting on Revelation 9:11, The Interpreter’s Bible says: “Abaddon, however, is an angel not of Satan but of God, performing his work of destruction at God’s bidding.”

In the Hebrew scriptures just considered, it is evident that ʼavad·dohn′ is paralleled with Sheol and death. At Revelation 1:18 we find Christ Jesus stating: “I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.” His power with regard to the abyss is shown at Luke 8:31. That he has destroying power, including the power of destruction over Satan, is evident from Hebrews 2:14, which says that Jesus partook of blood and flesh in order that “through his death he might bring to nothing the one having the means to cause death, that is, the Devil.” At Revelation 19:11-16 he is clearly represented as God’s appointed Destroyer or Executioner.—See APOLLYON.

Jesus is said to have the keys to death and hell in Re:1 and He is the one with the great chain that binds Satan for the 1,000 years. At that time all fallen angels are relesed from the Pit and after Satan's 'little season' they are all sent to the fiery lake. 'Abaddon' would have been a king on earth before the flood as such that makes him a fallen angel and the 42 months give is to 'mirror' the 3 1/2 Jesus was given for the first advent.

Satan is the falling star in Re:9 and the 5 months would see him as being king of the earth but unable to control Jerusalem because of the two witnesses.

Someone who was not her explained the things better from the very page 1 quoting JOEL. This is extremely important because John was not JUST writing visions. Different from the visions in Joel, Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah and so on, Apocalypse ONLY MENTIONS VISIONS and NOT among historical accounts. We could say it's a LITERATURE STYLE in which a vision including number 7 unravels to start other vision of 7 and so on until that number is repeated 52 times (5+2=7).

For example that vision about the woman dressed with the sun and with the moon and stars was the same dream dreamt by Joseph thousands years before when he compared himself with one of the 12 stars (sons of Israel and 11 kneeling before him) and his parents being the sun and the moon which is also a link with ancient point of view of the constellations. I would grow rather fatigue being explicit just to teach O.P who really doesn't want to be lectured about anything because she behaves as if she really knows for sure which is something we never can really reach. Only God knows. So, I wonder if she would start a topic like "who is good?" considering even Christ said to someone "why do you call me good?, only God is good"

John the writer of the Apocalypse who writes completely different from the John who wrote the Gospel (and Catholic church chose one among several Apocalypse scrolls available to be included in the very Bible Protestants use), that John uses a LANGUAGE STYLE to warn and give courage and strength to Christians about events which were probably nearer to his times in Rome, the beast sitting upon 7 hills. That included martyrs being slaughter in the killing machine which was the Roman circus.

However those visions were probably true as well in his mind and we ignore what he saw but we can imagine if he tries to describe in his words and the words of the prophets (Joel) in this case, what he saw. If you look at his description he saw these 'locusts':

In other vision John sees horses with lion heads spitting fire and tails like snakes. Some think since the number fits with Chinese soldiers, John saw their tanks! In the same way people imagine Ezekiel's vision of the chariot-throne would be aliens using quadruple choppers in a helicopter with a "bell" shape in the middle.

I disagree with such interpretations but I don't disregard them.

This have to be ytaken along with the context when John wrote and his purpose. The locusts do have faces like men and women's long hair.... that doesn't fit with choppers not even if you wanna glue something on their fronts or paint them like they painted sharks on war airplanes. Also they are not used to kill but to torture for specific number of months which is what they live. The locust is a combination of scorpion and human wearing helmets. The readers who read that will remember the locusts from Joel as well. If people ignored Joel, well they won't understand Apocalypse either.

Jehovah's Witnesses interpretation of this is just laughable. They say THEY ARE THE LOCUSTS torturing people with their message! They are torturing indeed and crawling every house! They torture with their ignorance applying the visions to themselves and their leaders.

Also, in the 'Gears of War' video game, there are Locust Drones which were made to protect "the Corpus", which is an enemy faction comprised of commercial and industrial interests. Could this be more acclimatization/predictive programming before the real thing?
