I'm proposing 100 USD via PayPal to whom ever can think of a logo and a name that has no other competition. Quoting: a penguin Cheap ass crowdsourcing tactics, this is why you cant find a paying gig or a good designer on craigslist any more. This bullshit is at epidemic levels, instead of paying for design work that is obviously both useful and monetarily valuable to them. The trend has been to wave a $100 dollar bill out in front of a group of starving artists and make them fight over it. Because EVERYBODY is doing this, people have no choice but to volunteer for this slavery. Instead of actually paying people a consideration that is in line with the service they expect, a "contest" is held where a large number of designers are asked to submit completed design ideas where the best is chosen and the rest are unpaid. Sometimes even the winner is left unpaid. I thank god that I had enough skill to rise above this BS and actually get paid for my time. Its disgusting really, contests, internships, portfolio builders, lunch and a metro card are not valid methods of payment for anybody. The upside is that I have never, not even once seen a company that used this deplorable method of exploitation ever become a success. When the owner is this much of a cheapskate the business suffers elsewhere from the same systemic mismanagement.   I'm sorry but that's what most artist have coming to them. They go to school for four years rack up thousands of dollars in debt to get a liberal art degree and then they bitch and moan when someone doesn't want to over pay them. Over-pay them? Offering them $100 for a logo and name ("and I have to like it") you are insulting them! |
