Grandma of 49 raisin my grandchild while dealing with her mother(Bipolar)and dealing with the father of child which took her at 15 while he was 25.

DA did nothing about that(bastards),he wants the child so it is costing an arm and leg for lawyer and also filed bankrupt,IRS after me and hubby over back taxes.

Husband has stopped calling or coming home(truck driver)i have one vehicle(old truck)on its last leg.

Im all alone(no family around)i find myself sleeping more and more, not getting chores done as i should.

I cry more than i ever have in my past,i try and tell myself other have it harder than me but somehow thats just not working anymore.

sad in Texas

I am so sorry for you. I truly am. It takes a very special type of lady to handle the long stretches of time left alone from a husband that travels often. And a very young grandma to boot adds stress too. My very humble advice is to reconnect with your husband and try to reestablish your family, let faults be water under the bridge because you, your daughter, and the baby need you and him united as one family ....strong and loving. If this is not possible, and this cross is yours alonegia....reach out. You need a little suport. Someone to give you a pat on the back now and then. God bless you. I think you are awesome for taking care of your grandchild. There is nothing like a living mother. Live, Angelhelper.

Helpful thread is interesting. The best advise comes from people who have experienced your situation. I have walked down the path of ruin, destitution, physical violence and homelessness while a single parent.

Real people can help you more than forum people.

Being a single parent can be exhausting. My ex worked out of state for many years because of the economy. Not having any extended family made it exceptionally hard. There were times when I would cry alone in my bathroom. It was tough carrying everything on my own. Now he has returned, we are still best of friends and everything is great. Things get easier and there's always a light at the end of the dark tunnel. You just have to believe.

We all have things we feel we have no one to talk to about. Sometimes it just helps to unload it to help free your mind and heart. The longer we hold things inside us, the more stressed and depressed we become. This is a "no fault" thread, someone else is, or have, gone thru what you are struggling with and will probably comment back to you. I have some great volunteer counselor type members on here that will get back to you sooner or later. JUST DUMP IT HERE. DF

------------------------------------------------------------

I was amazed to see the number of people in need a concerned ear to hear them, or just vent. I knew there were vast numbers of people out there that needed an outlet, any outlet. The response so far has been most encouraging, and the attention they have received is beyond reproach. As the volume of posters increase, as it will, just know that we may not be able to respond quickly. How ever, know that I will read them, all of them, and we will do our best to answer you as available to do so. Therefore, I ask you check back in, someone will respond. I also expect that I will have more qualified, caring members stepping up to try and help you in some way. Feel free to come here with out fear of being scoffed at or ignored. You are welcome here. hf DF

Hi sweetie. I'm sorry you have to shoulder this. You're NOT alone. I've had cancer and so have many others here. I was lucky enough not to need chemo or radiation. My surgery got it all, but it did trigger other health problems later.

May I ask, what kind of cancer do you have? Do your kids live very far from you? If they're close, they may surprise you. Please come back and we can talk. I'm free for a long time tonight.hugs

AC, I'm going to ramble for a little bit. See if any of this sounds familiar, ok? I was about 40 when I was diagnosed, my kids were still in school. My oldest was just out of high school and working out of town. I was so afraid of dying. Not for what would happen to me, but what would happen to my family. How would they manage without me? Thankfully, things turned out fine, but everything happened so fast, I couldn't process it all at the time.

I have so many stories of family members with cancer, some bad, some good. It's not really in our hands. If you don't mind, I'd like to add you to my prayer list. I won't beat you over the head with my beliefs, I'm not that kind of Christian.

Hi Tb, just saw this on my way out and am glad you have time tonight. It's heartbreaking for sure and must make the OP feel very alone, abandoned and betrayed.

I'm wondering though, if it's really that they're too busy living their lives or that it could be that they too are scared, and if they aren't around while OP is going through it, they can stay in denial and feel everything will be ok?

I wonder too, what Op would like to change if it were possible to change things with them.

Hope OP comes back and talks to you. It would be a lonely situation.

Re: NO ONE TO TELL YOUR TROUBLES TO?? GET THEM OFF YOUR CHEST HERE. WE PROMISE TO LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND.
I have a severely handicapped kid. He is 27. I am fine with it. My wife gets all messed up constantly, like it was brand new, over and over again, like the movie groundhog day. It quit bothering me when he was about 15 or 20 years old. I get it now. He won't get better. He's retarded, can't walk, can't see, can't hear. I am ok with that. Seriously, I am ok with it. She never got over it. She is in agony almost every day. She lost her job as a nurse because she self medicated with drugs. The state chased her and took her license. Now she's unemployable and unemployed. I never needed medication. Interesting - when he was born, the hospital went to great lengths to keep him alive because I had insurance - or so I was told by the hospital staff. The social worker told me that he was allowing the hospital to pay for like 7 other babies. So, nature wanted him to die; man wanted him to live. Weird concept. I love him, but I can see why nature kills off defective children. People shouldn't interfere with nature.

It's all good, DF. AC, if I happen to be logged out the next time you come on, do check back. I'll keep looking for you and I'll stay on for quite awhile tonight, just in case.
