I want to move closer to my 7 year old son who lives 3 states away. I saved up almost 7 thousand to get there and stay above water while going to school. I also happened to find a great girl in my original state, we seem to be a perfect match. What the hell to do

That's a tough one isn't it? Would the great girl consider going with you?

Well, that is a problem. A choice no one wants to make, but you must. You must chose whether you want to be close to your son, or strike out on your own with the new person. What is the chances that the new person would move with you? That would be the ideal solution. A great deal of pain could be yours if you make the wrong choice. DF

Re: NO ONE TO TELL YOUR TROUBLES TO?? GET THEM OFF YOUR CHEST HERE. WE PROMISE TO LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND.
Compared to other peoples problems, mine's really trivial. I just want to stay at home. I hate my job so much that I'm in tears almost every single day. Every job I've had has been varying degrees of rotten.

I love being home, pottering around, reading, messing around on the computer, cooking, gardening. Sometimes, I even wish I lived in the 50's, where I could just be a housewife and stay at home, and not expected to go out and deal with pricks on a daily basis.

Every other aspect of my life is great. I'm just a hyper-sensitive introvert who can't handle dealing with people all day, every day. I dread to think that the rest of my life is going to be spent thusly. And no one really seems to get it.

I'd never scab off society, and be unemployed at home on purpose, but I really wish I could find something that suits me.

I get exactly what you are looking for. The life styles of the 50s were ideal, I know, I lived them. Long gone tho. You need a job you can do from home. Not many wives are satisfied to be home makers, but you fit the bill. I hope you can find that which you desire. Try to stay up beat and keep searching. hf DF

Wow you have to decide if you want to stay with 'a girl you met' or be in your sons life.If you are that close to her and she dont want to go with you leave her behind.
Cant believe anyone would even have to consider being in their little kids life compared to someone they are dating.

Wow, how torn you must feel. If what you have with the girl is meant to be, it'll work out. I hope she's in a position to be able to go with you, but don't let anything get in the way of seeing your son. Those are memories that will stick with the both of you for life.

I never thought I would ever fall in love, because I'm so picky. I know exactly what I want and throughout the years I've never found her.

Until one day.. ironically she actually hit on me.

The strong feelings I felt for her from the onset defied logic. I was instantly in love, and scared to death.

Then she tells me, due to culture differences, we can't date for long. Her dad found out about us and was very angry.

Sure enough she kept her word and ended it. I was crushed.

I have to say it is better to have loved and lost. I never thought I would ever fall in love with someone. She conquered my world without even trying, no matter how much I resisted.

That was many years ago. She's ruined all women since. I just can't find that spark again. I've pretty much given up.

She ended up marrying someone of her culture and their kids are gorgeous. I am nothing but ecstatic for her. I wish I had gotten more time with her but at least I can cherish the memories.

It's always hard to lose someone you really care for. Sometimes it's best you didn't get what you wanted. There's a big difference between having that "love at first sight" feel, and living with someone each and every day. I'm suspecting if you'd had the chance to do that, you might not be hurting so much now.

Like DF says, there's someone for everyone who wants someone. Sometimes we have to burn bridges to prevent us from traveling to a place we should have never gone in the first place. Feel better soon....and open your eyes to what's around you. 8)

Hell, the problem of the day is I work my ass off getting through school. And going to work. I'm getting behind on my homework. I got a calc 2 mid term tomorrow, that's stressing me straight out. Because it's 35% of my grade. All I want to do is just go to work, come home and cook dinner for myself and my fiance. But no, Before that happens I got to work 120 hr weeks between work and school for just one more year. But I'm already getting seriously burnt out. I've been doing it now for 4. Damn close to having my bachelors. That and the promise of getting out of this shithole apartment is whats making sure I wake up everyday.

Those are hard times for sure. Hard as it is now, the day will come when you'll look back with a smile, thinking how hard it was, and having the satisfaction of knowing you DID it. Get some rest and leave the stress. Hang in there. hf

Thanks guys goodnews. It's the end of my day. I'm off to bed and will be up early with my nose in the book, with my cup of coffee. You can believe that. Thanks for the encouragement.

The archangel Raphael came to me and sang to me telling me I am Christ. I also have been diagnosed with Schizo-affective disorder. Am I crazy?

Excellent thread; I've read every page. I have no actual doom to speak of apart from being rendered jobless, carless and homeless (temp. staying at a friends house)

Thing is, I'm now 49 staring the big 5.0 in the face, and I've had girlfriends, been married, had kids, been rich and poor (not as poor as now though) and lost my car due to a bizarre fire incident. Stuff happens in a cyclical fashion.

Do I care? F**K NO!!!

Life is a journey, not a destination. Experience it - Embrace it - Enjoy it.

Me and a sleeping bag and some noodles and I'm good to go. Lower your living expectations and you'll be fine.

Sorry to hear about the lady with a baby on the way and a disinterested partner. That sucks. Good luck honey.

Tough situation at 50, but you at least have not let it dampen your humor. Hope things look up for you soon. DF
