That is exactly what the Constitution says Jennie baby! If you and all the other wise asses that intend to usurp the Constitution decide to take matters into your own hands, catch, brutalize (guilty or not) convict and terminate WITHOUT DUE PROCESS (yes Jennie those are important words) this country has no rule of law. YOU Jennie baby, have no idea if this person is the right person, if he is guilty, if he did a damn thing, you know ONLY (another important word, so you don't get any further confused)what the "authorities" have told you and the story is fifty different versions. You Jenny baby are an idiot!!!

If you truly believe the Constitution gurantees your safety while shooting at police after murdering innocent people then YOU, my dear, are the idiot, as well as batshit fucking insane.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5240732

Oh .. another "I know he is guilty because the news said so!" Due Process is what the Constitution says smart ass! If the rule of law is gone so is the country. YOU know no more about the guilt or innocence of this person that Jenn the idiot. Anyone, including you, had better be thankful for the guarantees of the Constitution and do all you can to protect what it stands for. With your attitude this country will be worse than North Korea in no time. You and Jenn, and all others that think like you, can go to Hell with the people who take the Constitution for just a damn piece of paper.
 Quoting: Miss Kitty

Hypothetical - were an armed person to invade your home and take you hostage, would you prefer the police to intervene and shoot him, thus not allowing "due process"? What course of action would you prefer?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29948208

If someone comes to my house to hold me hostage I will shoot them myself .. just as THE CONSTITUTION (another important word) guarantees me the right to do. I have nothing to say against self defense for anyone. If you are held hostage and the police, or anyone else, shoots that person holding you hostage, it is defense ... when you shoot people to run them back into a cabin for the sole purpose of burning them alive it makes the police no better than the criminal that is proven to be a murderer. Nothing is proven yet in the Dorner case. Just as the women and children in Waco trying to get out of the dining room doors behind the house, shot (hit a couple of kids too) and forced into the old silo to be burned alive by a directed satchel charge. No due process, just extermination. You and your ideas of justice will help to destroy this country!

so they changed the story AGAIN.....
now its 2 housekeepers tied up, car stolen, and then several other carjackings.
we have a new 'PURPLE TRUCK', that we didnt see yesterday,
saw evry other color.....
the "elderly woman" who Wwas origianally tied up with her husband, and escaped, and was later taken to "a retirement home" (this is the woman who positively id him) DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE IN THE REPORT.
yesterday, there were 2 hostages in one area, and 2 hostages in another...
now just 2 maids...

where are the old lady and her husband who made the 911 call?
they started this whole mess...
now they are gone?????
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18380705

That scared me, "taken to the home," wasn't she tied up in her own home? Is she hurt or not being allowed home?
I heard this on the scanner, with the other appx. 30K people.

The question was, (assuming you were not armed or unable to defend yourself somehow), would police shooting the perp be a violation of his constitutional rights to due process?

Hypothetical - were an armed person to invade your home and take you hostage, would you prefer the police to intervene and shoot him, thus not allowing "due process"? What course of action would you prefer?

This analogy is like comparing apples to dump trucks.

A.) If someone were in your home, there are lines of address to be taken that would be dependent upon the immediate actions of the hostage-taker. **IF** he/ she were in the process of creating immediate danger, i.e. shooting or other wise actively torturing you, then yes, entry would likely be made with concern to bring you out alive if at all possible, and the suspect may or may not be taken alive based on his/ her immediate actions. **IF** not, then there would be negotiations put in place to best deescalate a volatile situation in the attempt to preserve your life first, and the hostage taker's second.

B.) "They" were "sure" there were no hostages in the cabin, and the shooting had ceased as Dorner retreated into the cabin. Therefore, there were no immediate actions to warrant an intentional killing, as referenced in my earlier post regarding the same.

I think this "Immediate Action" is where many have become confused. **IF** Dorner had committed the crimes he was accused of, AND there was no call for immediate action based on no hostage(s) and no active engagement at the moment; then you wait. And wait. And benefit from your access to resources while the hostage taker depletes his/ hers. If the suspect makes the decision to end their own life during this time frame - that's their decision, and such still ends the event without a suspension of a person's rights, nor destruction of property.

Regarding your posted analogy again: I damned sure wouldn't look for someone to make the decision to burn the place down around me.

Agreed -

There will be ample time to construct a definition explaining the "slang" or "alternate language" that would be related to use in this situation.

If "burner" were used once without the given context, then yes, there would be grounds for any such explanation. Having the reference made multiple times coupled with the phrase "just as we planned..." does show a predetermined plan of action - a predetermined plan that, if it were any other citizen of this country, would be used as evidence against them during prosecution and sentencing of such acts.

so the "officer crain" funeral is being broadcast on local tv here in los angeles.

it is honestly THE BIGGEST police funeral i have ever seen.
and they are taking HOURS of airtime, showing every little detail, hundreds, maybe even athousand, police officers,
little kids saying"thank you "in unison as the car drives by,

it is soooooooo overblown, its like the pope died.

officers die every year, i have never seen anything like this,
and TELEVISED ALL MORNING!

and everyone is "suffering" and totally overreacting, one woman is fainting, everyone is mourning, crying.

i'm waiting for someone to start tearing their hair and ripping their clothes....

there's been a precession of officers into this church,
that the fallen officer had no connection, that has taken over a half an hour so far.

no disrepect to officers that die in the line of duty,
but this "funeral event" must be costing several cities millions of dollars today.

they have bands, video memorials, and more people than i've ever seen at a funeral!

it seemn waaaaaaaaay over done....

like a big hollywood production again.

Chris Dorner Torched Waco Style ?

 Quoting: Jeremiah 11:9 31106515

The last thing LAPD Chief Charlie Beck needed to do was make this guy a martyr by torching him alive.

Americans still have a sense of fair play. While most think he actually did what was claimed, a day in court is the fair thing.

Burning him and others alive is not the fair thing to do. This will engender resistance and ill-will to LAPD.

That being said, this decision by Beck was borne of arrogance than comes from being a general of a private army, one complete with aircraft, storm troopers, light tanks and machine guns. In short, LAPD.

From the viewpoint of history, Beck will be judged as having over-reacted and creating more problems by his heavy-handed murder of this man. He didn't have to kill him. Tear gas does work wonders.

The radio traffic from LAPD makes it clear beyond a shadow of a doubt they intended to kill him by incineration. Burn him out.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18641858

Hmmm.... I've been thinking about "Fair Play" and I believe that old Biblical statement - "Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword."

So... How about a new pronouncement ?

"Those who live by FIRE, shall die by FIRE ?"

Seems that all of those cowardly officials who made the decision to burn the cabin, rather than try and take Dorner alive, were "living" by fire. In other words, they chose to LIVE, so they burned (who knows who?) someone alive. Thinking that they stood a better chance playing dirty, than storming the cabin or waiting it out.

I believe that someone will start "firebombing" their homes and cars, etc.

I only hope that when this happens, whoever chooses to take this action will make sure that their "targets" are actually those who made the decision to burn a human alive !!

Heh. I read what you said. Thing is, the situation with Horner was essentially an outlaw who had killed and was intent on killing until he was killed, according to his manifesto. He proved he was not going to be taken alive in the final shootout at the cabin. Confronted with that condition, by the police, or by anyone being attacked by him, it seems reasonable to do whatever you can to prevent that...i.e., defend yourself, as you said.

He didn't commit suicide. An FBI guy was on TV last night and said the police pushed him back in the back door as he tried to come out. Meaning they shot at him to keep him in there. A sniper I am sure hit him and then they burned him. The ACLU will be filing a lawsuit in 3...2...1... since when are police allowed to be judge, jury, and executioner?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19200631

He tossed out a smoke cannister and ran out shooting his gun.

Police fired back, forcing him back in the cabin.

I'm curious, what do you think protocol should be when a murderer runs out firing at you? Smile and wave and let them run past? Or fire back at them?

It's almost as if people are starting to understand the nature of our media. Out intelligence and CIA spends a lot less time on spying and a lot more time on public opinion molding then they are aware. It's a lot easier to mold public opinion to what you want then to hope it's what you want and spend all the time on spying on people to find out their standing.

The media is there as an authority figure to mold events and how we should look at them. When 86% of the population uses MSM as their sole source of information you can't be too shocked when they have no idea what's going on in the world.

Perception is reality. Those who know this have a powerful tool on there side.

Re: BRKG: Cops Responding To Shootout With Federal Officials, LA Times Confirms Dorner. Update: Dorner May Have Died In Fiery Blaze, Or Escaped

Hypothetical - were an armed person to invade your home and take you hostage, would you prefer the police to intervene and shoot him, thus not allowing "due process"? What course of action would you prefer?
 Quoting: ClydeX

Thank you Montana. Have you read about the "Obama Cyber Warriors?" These are little snots getting on to forums and discrediting posters, raising Hell and finding IP addresses to find the real person poster. Put up to this by our dear leader. Gee, wonder why. It seems the snots are here today.

You're most welcome, though I am in Colorado, not Montana.

Yes, I am VERY aware of the new "Cyber Warriors" - as a Christian-based, Conservative/ Libertarian organization, we are more than aware that we fall within the bounds of their focus.

There are Americans still within the bounds of this country.

We will not hide. We will not go quietly into that dark night.

You either did not read what I replied or you simply are not intelligent enough to reprieve what I said. Now STFU and go away.

How do you know "Horner" was guilty? You don't! You know only what someone else told or showed you. Rule of thumb "Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see." Due process is more important to the country than your stupid little misguided opinion on the rule of law.

 Quoting: JennOfArc

He had plenty of time and warnings by megaphone to surrender peacefully.
 Quoting: Little Willow

He had 10 days to turn himself in and have a fair trial.

You're right. I have no proof Dorner killed anyone. I've not seen any pictures of killings, I know personally of no one involved. It comes down to a matter of whether one believes what was reported by the media.

In regard the women paper deliverers being shot up, we have the pic of the truck with bullet holes, and I used to live in that area so I know the street is not faked. I really have no reason to believe anything else was faked either, but I will admit to zero first hand experience.

If you think that Americans have a sense of fair play, you will get a huge rude awakening some day.

Doubt that there was ever any real sense of fair play, ask the Natives.
