I have fed my dogs over the years all manner of foods, shying away from chocolate however I had one knock over an entire pan of fudge and devour it while I was away. They all lived to extreme old age, one died of a fungal infection after chewing sticks in the woods but was 11 human years old, the other kept on ticking as high as 13.
She is one of THOSE people who probably has her dog fitted for sweaters, treats it better than her own family. Neurotic, possessive, uninformed, dangerous liability to you and those you love.

Lesson learned your neighbors are your worst enemy. Size them up for wshtf.

Bread is just as "bad" for dogs as it is for people.

Our neighborhood rule of thumb is if it's a nice neighbor you like, take the dog back home. If it's a bitch neighbor, call animal control. Animal control comes out and if the dog is loose, picks it up. If it's not, they knock on the door and talk to the owner, checking vet papers and writing a warning.

I like how she states "We are healthy people", she will be dead just like the rest of us from all manner of ailments to afflict human populations. So much for her rocking diet plan.

I’ve no problem with homemade bread, whole grain gourmet bread. but supermarket white bread just seems like shit food. call it my gut instinct ;)

I can't let my dog eat bread at all or he will have a seizure within about an hour - he can't eat anything with artificial flavors, colors or preservatives :)

I've always had big happy dogs that I've adopted from the pound, huskies and mixes

and they would eat anything they pleased....and every single one has lived well over 10 years

I had an electric fence around the property but sometimes they'd get out. I could tell they had eaten ground hogs, the occasional mole and they'd drag home dead things they found out in the woods. Sure I gave them dry food but it's in their nature to hunt. Somehow they managed to do just fine

I'm so happy I have a Russian tortoise instead of a dog.
A: they don't move very fast, so it's hard for them to get loose.
B: they eat veggies and flowers, so food is not processed and pretty much free when I take her to the park or during the spring, summer and fall when my garden is going.
C: they make very little, if any noise. When mating or playing, they tend to be loud.

My dog is an Australian cattle dog cross. He is a rescue dog & I didn't know that is what caused his seizures until monitoring what he'd eaten before each attack. Why the nastiness?? I was just answering the question asked!

It wasn't the answer they wanted. Artificial flavours, colours, and preservatives make most humans sick... most humans just ignore it.

I can't stress enough the importance of getting along with your neighbors, even when they don't conform to your preferences in neighbors.

WTSHTF or anything out of the ordinary happens it is nice to have a neighbor to watch your home when you go on vacation, look out for your pets and kids, so many every day things can happen and you are only harmed by poor relations with neighbors.

Locked out of the house without your phone? We recently had a neighbor fall on her driveway and break her leg--she was calling for help without her phone, when your neighbors hate you they might just ignore you.

Who cares what their neighbors feed their pets, or their kids, live and let live, your neighbors could be a lot worse.

Think of what you have in common-- yes, you have the common interest of wanting to have a "good, safe" neighborhood.

I did lot of research on the actual best diet for dogs once; I've got 4 and one was sick or something and started me on a 'make your own dog food kick' which ended up being too much work long term so now I just buy decent premium dog food but anyway here's the deal:

50 percent animal protein raw preferred but cook if you must
25 percent non-corn grains well-broken down or simple, like rice or finely ground oats
25 percent well-broken down almost pre-digested vegetables

Think about the rabbit your dog might catch in the wild. It's mostly meat, and its stomach contains the grasses and stolen garden veggies (lol) it had for dinner before your dog caught it.

Boy did they love it when I cooked for them. Too bad -- they need to get a job and hire a chef. lol

My Belgian Malinois is on a raw food diet, but if it was loose and you gave it bread to get it back on my property; I would be MOST thankful. :)
