Do you mean that everyone should grow THEIR OWN food and build THEIR OWN homes? And what happens to those who can't or are not skilled enough to do it? Or is it that you mean to say that those who who KNOW and are WILLING to do those things should do it for everyone else who don't?

Your not seeing the picture here. Would you rather A: work a job $5 an hour for 8 hours. Or B: work a job at $10 an hour for 4 hours?

Yes the store would have less workers and the expense would be more per hour, but to compensate they would either raise the price of food, or maybe lower managements pay a tad? I think it's looking like the rich and poor are coming together to where we all make the same amount in the end, maybe.

You're right, I haven't read through 16 pages of responses. But the gist of the argument is it will raise the cost of everything else which isn't really accurate. All businesses aren't paying minimum wage to their workers. Most of the cost of production goes to the skilled workers that create the product (the few things that aren't made in China anyway). The people who would benefit from this aren't the people that are producing everything so the impact on prices is very small.

Hardly any of the big box stores and retail hire full-timers anymore.

Ironically, robots and computers were supposed to make our jobs easier. Instead, they replaced us and now we can't buy the products made by robots and computers.

Don't blame Obama for trying to raise the minimum wage. Putting money in the hands of consumers is the only way to improve an economy. We tried austerity in Europe, remember? It failed because government workers lost their jobs and that means fewer consumers in a consumer economy.

Another thing we can try is to force everyone to work 3 to 4 days a week, or 4 to 6 hours 5 days a week.

Imagine working for $9.00 an hour 3 days a week. You'll be poor, but at least your neighbors will also have the same job you do during different shifts.

And then you will have no health coverage. If you get laid off, you will not be able to collect unemployment. This will result with even more people on government assistance and someone, the taxpayers is who, will be paying for the cost of these people on government assistance.

The answer to the worlds economy problem:

A classless society of equal distribution of wealth amongst the people. Just like the old hunter-gatherer societies of ancient times. All things needed were distributed equally amongst the groups.

Capitalism is the biggest threat to mankind. Even Nikola Tesla the smartest man who ever lived said

Capitalism allows the privatization of banks. You guys wanna fix your problem? Go after the rich fuckers at the top that got rich off of the workers backs.

The problem is, if you replace workers with robots, nobody has money to buy the products robots make.

The same problem you can see when playing monopoly. When capital is built, masses end up poor, nobody can pay the rent, the game ends and the capital is destroyed.

Karl Marx argued that labour is exploited. Somehow he must be right, but Communism didn't work either.

Make it a crime for American companies to send their jobs overseas.........then raise the minimum wage to atleast $12.00 an hour and maybe........just maybe people can get back to work and actually pay some of their bills.

They don't hire full time for a reason, so they don't have to pay for benefits like health insurance, holiday pay or pay unemployment insurance.

In the short run, that hurts the part-time employees immediately, in the long run, it hurts the entire economy as a whole.

Communism is an abandoned ideal. German Socialism works. It will be the dominant government. And robots will replace most jobs. If you can think of a job where a human person is better, then that is the job that will last well into the future. Even construction jobs will be replaced in our lifetime by robots.

Most people, myself included, start at the bottom when they are young and they work themselves up. They have to do without what they were used to having when they lived with mommy and daddy and start making their own way. They moved out of a nice house, into a cheap apartment. They didn't get a brand new car, they bought what they could afford. I didn't have cable for the first 3 years I lived on my own, yes, that is a shocker, but it can be done. I drove an inexpensive car, I lived in a cheap apartment, I worked two jobs at times and GASP..they were both jobs that I HATED. It was about 6 months on my own before I could even have a phone in my apartment. I had one old couch, my bedroom stuff, I had a few pieces of kitchen things here and there that my mom gave me. I had THREE towels, had to wash them all the time.

I worked, moved myself up, saved my money, didn't have unnecessary things until I could AFFORD it.

That is what normal people do, they don't generally go from the lifestyle of mommy and daddy into that same lifestyle when they leave mommy and daddy. Mommy and daddy worked a lot of years to get to that lifestyle and they started at the bottom also when they were young.

No one shared their wealth with me, I worked to take care of myself. Yes, I know, it's a strange concept, starting at the bottom and working to support yourself and not getting something from others.

Good Lord, we are doomed..share the wealth my ass. Work for your wealth like a normal person.

Is he trying to run us out of business!!! If you raise one side the other would even out with it!!! The money comes from the people that buy the product and the price just rose by $1 cause of the minimum wage raise!! He does not get it!!

OR you could do like my relatives....Work but live off mommy and daddy so all the earned money can be saved and some spent on luxuries all the while claiming you made it 100 % on your own.Then when they croak take everything and buy you a big house free and clear and tell the world you did it all by yourself.Got a little fancy cousin that did just that and now he is above all us but he did it all without one bit of help.Living under mommies dress tail for 40 years didnt contribute one thing doncha you know.

Most of us in the next several years will be on a national health insurance program regardless of pay. And yes, it has its problems.

It's sort of the opposite where I work (ups) part-time only on hire but I get health,dental,vision,presc., 10k life all completely free (after a year) It's not shit coverage either. Yet you have too be here for several year to become full time and ft's have to contribute to their ins.(I heard)

The poor keep getting poorer and the rich keep getting richer.

That does not surprise me.

What does surprise me is that actual american citizens don't even want the poor to earn a fair amount of money for their work. That's amazing.
