Anonymous Coward User ID: 14151487 United States 02/13/2013 06:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Your all idiots, do the math. You get paid more and you work less, what more do you need? Seriously Quoting: Zarx If management was smart, they would be able to use their heads and balance out the hours. If everyones minimum wage goes up, lower the hours for employees, but not enough to where they dont get paid the same amount every 2 weeks. Minimum wage goes up, so cut the hours of employees. Yeah, makes a lot of sense. Oh wait, cutting hours can affect things like benefits you receive like health insurance, disability insurance, qualifying for vacation, sick days, holiday pay, contributing to a 401K or any kind of retirement fund. Yeah, another brilliant idea..smh Your not seeing the picture here. Would you rather A: work a job $5 an hour for 8 hours. Or B: work a job at $10 an hour for 4 hours? Yes the store would have less workers and the expense would be more per hour, but to compensate they would either raise the price of food, or maybe lower managements pay a tad? I think it's looking like the rich and poor are coming together to where we all make the same amount in the end, maybe. You aren't seeing the point. If they lower their hours, they lose even more in the long run, important things like healthcare, unemployment should they be laid off or lose their job, now on mandated holidays, they don't get paid a dime, they have no vacation time, they have no sick time, they have no money put into any type of retirement. Coming together where we all make the same amount in the end? I think not. I would be highly upset after paying thousands for my school if someone can flip a burger and make the same amount as me, especially when my job involves having the lives of people in my hands. You cut minimum wage workers hours, they don't make anymore money, they have no health insurance, they then have to go into the system for government assistance for healthcare, food stamps, government housing, etc..our taxes go up to cover this. You know that we can't just print more money and they government does not generate income, their money comes from taxes and who pays those? The tax payers, so then EVERYONE makes less because taxes go up more. |

Do you really think $7.25/hour is a livable wage? What's wrong with the guy flipping your burger getting paid a few bucks more? I think the fact that the government has to step in and force businesses to pay a living wage says more about business practices than the government. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30110292 Obviously someone isn't reading any of the responses... You're right, I haven't read through 16 pages of responses. But the gist of the argument is it will raise the cost of everything else which isn't really accurate. All businesses aren't paying minimum wage to their workers. Most of the cost of production goes to the skilled workers that create the product (the few things that aren't made in China anyway). The people who would benefit from this aren't the people that are producing everything so the impact on prices is very small. So when they raise the minimum wage and they have to pay tons of people more money, where do you think they are going to get that loss from? US, that is where, all of us. |

Everyone should grow food, build homes, and such. No money, no class, just humanity working as ONE. Yes, because people living in urban areas have all the room in the world to have a garden and farm animals. Also, you might forget there are building codes and they have these codes for a reason. You can't just throw up a home, run sewer and electricity through it and not met code, you have to be licensed to do those things, again for a reason. Also not to mention, I have to work and therefore I don't have the time to build my home, till a garden, churn butter, make all my clothes and worry about feeding my horse that will pull my buggy. Also the electric company won't take a bushel of corn in payment for an electric bill, for some strange reason, they only take money. So therefore, since I can't plant money in a garden and grow it, I have to work to pay for things like my homeowners insurance, my electricity, my water, my gas. I need cash to pay my copay if I have to go to the doctor, the pharmacy will not take a couple dozen eggs as payment for a prescription either. Guess your going to have to use your brain and THINK of a way....or yea...fucking die. Death is life's only gift for everyone Well that's fine by me. Banned as usual. “It is far easier to be a weakling than to be a Real Man. Were the Earth less harsh or the circumstances of life less austere, man would destroy himself before the shrine of the languid goddess. Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.” |
