How can I legally buy a gun in Canada?
Legally buying firearms in Canada isn't complicated, or expensive.

Almost 2 Million people have done this before you. Roughly 1 in 15 of the Canadians old enough to qualify for a firearms have already gotten one.

Basically you just need to pass a short and easy (though very important) safety course, and then mail away for a license. When you're approved you'll get it in the mail and you can go shopping.

The course you will take (or at least pass the test for) is called the CFSC, that's short for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, and the license you'll get is called a PAL short for Possession and Acquisition License. It's generally pronounced "pal", like the word for a friend, not "Pee Eh Ell".

Yes, handguns are legal in Canada. If you want to own a handgun, (or other "restricted" firearms such as AR-15 rifles) in Canada you will additionally need to to pass a second course called the CRFSC (the R is for Restricted,) and pay a bit more on the application to get a PAL which allows you to buy restricted firearms.

Although not technically correct, most people call it an RPAL, you can guess what the R in front is for. Although an RPAL is actually just a PAL which says "restricted" on the back (in addition to "non-restricted") under the sections that list what types of firearms you are allowed to acquire and possess.

An RPAL is absolutely not a concealed weapons permit and does not authorize you to carry a handgun. Carrying a handgun in Canada without authorization is very illegal and there is vitually no way for you to get authorization to do so without having a job which requires it.

Dont you have to keep your firearm in a locker at the local magistrates and check it out when you want to use it?

And I'm sure all the Yakuza in Hong Kong and all the bikers in Canada are very conscientious about obeying firearms laws right?

Thr right to bear arms is specifically about defending the American people from corrupt Government. Allowing govt' to control the firearms, well, ever heard of a fox guarding a hen house?

The Yakuza is Japanese, they also do not typically deal in guns in their native country(Japan) you can spend some time looking up your idiocy with some gun crime statistics.

Hong Kong is about a 4-5 hour flight from the island of Japan. Hong Kong is a different country. Hong Kong has even stricter gun laws than Canada(Gun are illegal here to own). Hong Kong has extremely low Gun Crime considering its population is roughly 8 million people, and all those people are found in the worlds most densely populated part of the planet.

Hong Kong has its own organized crime group called the Triads. They probably have access to firearms, but they are not using them on the population of the country, and they know the use of firearms during a crime results in a very long sentence.

Your government in the United States ALREADY controls firearms, they just do a shitty job of it because lobbyists for the firearms industry stifle the laws effectiveness.

The U.S.A and its citizens wouldn't have a hope in hell of having a revolution and overthrowing their government if it were to turn on them. Hahaha, that is the biggest and most hilariously-childish lie told by the gun-nut crowd.

Shills gotta shill.

I, too was just in a shop pricing handguns for when my lifetime concealed carry permit comes in. <3 Indiana.

Clerk was honest that stock was slim, but waiting list - hah. I see people writing same of the States - OMG! All sold out! Waiting list!

No one wants to go into a store and stick their name on a waiting list. They want to be able to protect themselves right fucking now. If they believe everywhere will put them on a waiting list, they might just not bother...

I do honestly believe more people than are in need of the protection of a firearm are being convinced to stock up inordinately, and info like this is a basic breathe of fresh air to the hype. Those that have a family and don't have at least a single firearm that are not yet getting a ball rolling on carrying and owning legally = not very smart in this day and age, in my humble opinion.
