Help me God not to become cynical, help me to believe there is a way through evil that does not corrupt my own heart.
Yesterday, I followed the events, to the moment of the 'burners' being used, and a few moments later the cabin ablaze, and then the deliberate 'allowing' of the fire to burn.
Our government and the police became judge and jury and burned a man to death (if the one shot heard did not kill him immediately). The amount of personnel and firepower was alarming to say the least. Innocent citizens were forced to stay in their homes on lockdown, and cars were searched illegally.
We also showed anyone with a vendetta against this country, exactly how weak we are and how easily those in power react in their fear.
Two women were innocently shot IN THE BACK by a barrage of police gun fire, without any mention of the officers being brought to judgment, as well as a surfer who was shot at by the police. Black men who merely may have looked like Christopher Dorner needed to stay in their homes for fear of being shot by a 'frightened' cop.
Lastly, I read in horror how people made jokes of a man being burned to death, calling him "toast" and other cruel, sad and mean spirited things rather than get honest about the horror we had all just witnessed.
Please my Creator, help me to stay in my heart and not become cynical and cruel - help me to hold the belief that a way through these times of evil and corruption is at hand.
