The one obvious constant between all of the teachings of the ancients in terms of spirituality is that you have to turn stop being attached to material things, turn inward and meditate for a long time, all the time.

It's not your body that one has to work on, but one's mind, where the "youness" illusion comes from. Because..

We are not just "connected through our DNA on a quantum level". Every single piece of matter in you is on a quantum level already! If it's a physical thing, it's a piece of quantum effect.

The only place you need to focus on is your mind's connection with this, your awareness that initiates an observer/observed effect!

Many religions teach you to be "mindful", mindful all the time, all the way to the point of being "aware, miraculously aware!".

Because the more of the world you take in your awareness, the more interconnection you take in on a quantum level at that specific moment.

Let's say, metaphorically perhaps, that when you take in something, and thus are initiating an observer/observed quantum effect, you collapse the quantum foam probability field into an apparent solid. You sit in a room and look around, and that room exists because you are observing it. When nothing is observing it, it no longer exists except a massive set of probability waves. That's one way of looking at it!

Einstein complained about the moon not existing if not observed.
