K.Kool User ID: 34343472 Australia 02/13/2013 05:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Well, now is the favourable time, this is the day of salvation" (2 Cor 6:2). The words of the Apostle Paul to the Christians of Corinth resonate for us with an urgency that does not permit absences or inertia. The term "now" is repeated and can not be missed, it is offered to us as a unique opportunity. And the Apostle's gaze focuses on sharing with which Christ chose to characterize his life, taking on everything human to the point of taking on all of man’s sins. The words of St. Paul are very strong: "God made him sin for our sake." Jesus, the innocent, the Holy One, "He who knew no sin" (2 Cor 5:21), bears the burden of sin sharing the outcome of death, and death of the Cross with humanity. The reconciliation we are offered came at a very high price, that of the Cross raised on Golgotha, on which the Son of God made man was hung. In this, in God’s immersion in human suffering and the abyss of evil, is the root of our justification. The "return to God with all your heart" in our Lenten journey passes through the Cross, in following Christ on the road to Calvary, to the total gift of self. It is a journey on which each and every day we learn to leave behind our selfishness and our being closed in on ourselves, to make room for God who opens and transforms our hearts. And as St. Paul reminds us, the proclamation of the Cross resonates within us thanks to the preaching of the Word, of which the Apostle himself is an ambassador. It is a call to us so that this Lenten journey be characterized by a more careful and assiduous listening to the Word of God, the light that illuminates our steps." [link to www.news.va] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 34254401 Germany 02/13/2013 05:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First I give you the german words: Quoting: ^àTOn^ "Jetzt ist sie da, die Zeit der Gnade. Jetzt ist sie da, die Zeit der Rettung", sagte der Papst. [link to www.spiegel.de] I translate it with: Myself: Now she has come, the time of grace. Now, she has come, the time of coming back to god. google: Now is the time of grace. Now is the time of the rescue. Yes, there is a difference: the word rescue and the wording I used to translate. Why this difference ? Because in christianity, in the religious speaking, the word "rescue" ( = "Rettung"), has not the same meaning in different contextes. And put it together in the context of his stepping back from being a pope, put it together, that he knows the context of being "the last pope", put it in the context of this unusual step, of a pope stepping down: his words were particulary emphasized on "now" = not last year, not 100 years ago, but NOW "is the time" = this is the time, the time we had before also, but NOW is THE time "of the rescue" = of the rapture, of the final judgement, of a time, where everybody goes on on his path to its rescue, some to the right, some to the left, some otherwise, but everybody on his way back to where he came from, to GOD. AND: Now she has come, the time of grace. A different time has come. Different as before. It is the time of grace. Now she has come, the time of grace. Now she has come, the time of coming back to god. Understand it with your heart, and you will realize the time it is. pope is a german and germans are always against war. historically reasoned. now he resigned. means there could be war on religious scale and germany wouldnt want a pope as shepherd when shtf. it will be a french pope now because the world is already used to the french invading other nations(fe in africa). |

I would feel a hunger to know what real contribution Pope Benedict has actually made of his inheritance during his 7 year seat. What interested him and what body of new thought accompanies this interest. That might help explain his words (or not). Whatever his words were they should be bell-clear if his message in fact held some urgency of knowing something we don't. Generally I haven't had the 'hit' on this Pope having much of a cutting grasp on knowledge or even spirituality for that matter. But what do I know to make a judgement, all I have is that intuition of not much going on inside this man that is um, useful to match the urgency of the times we're in. Personally I am weary of speculations on decrypting words that might just be straightforwardly ho-hum. |
