"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." -- Galatians 5:14-26 |

If you are liberal you can move west, if you are conservative you can move east, if the SHTF you can easily get to Canada or Idaho and from there Alaska, Montana, or Utah. WA is also one of the few states to start legally opposing drones and attempt to legalize marijuana. There may be better states for specific reasons, but Washington isn't bad overall. |

If you're young, raising a family, earning money, still working - the answers are vastly different than if you are retired. Your health has a lot to do with it, too. Perfect health allows you to live anywhere. A child or spouse with a serious medical condition may dictate that you live close to a major medical facility for treatment of their condition. Climate is another issue. Some like it cold - some can't stand it hot. Some would rather sweat than be freezing part of the year. And some insist on being near the oceans or a major lake/body of water. Think about educational opportunities. The proximity to a major college or university is usually a good thing. Cultural events being available such as museums, plays, orchestras, symphonies, etc., is not without serious value, too. There are liberal cities where you can be poor with some dignity. There are others where if you are not making 200k per year you cannot afford to live there and enjoy the place. Oh, you can live, but your existence will be hand to mouth and not much fun. Personally, I wish I had stayed in Europe after 9/11 instead of moving back to the US. I find the European way of life to be much more to my liking that most of the US. But that's just my preference. And I did live in Amsterdam which certainly colors ones' perception of Europe as a whole. Best state? There is not a "best state" but there are some that are better than others for specific needs and issues and concerns. Good Luck in finding the right place for you and/or your family. |

Politically moving forward while keeping most of the core american values. Cost of living is good and our gas prices tend to be some of the lowest in the land. |

Are you urban, modern, yuppie? Are you outdoorsy and down to earth? Do you like to travel? Are you limited on income or unlimited? Are you fast paced and fast talking, or do you like it slow and easy? Are you a corporate climber? Retired? Self employed? Is your job one you can find anywhere or is it specialized? Are you wanting to be near family, or it doesnt matter? Do you like to drive a long way to work or hate it? Do you hate tollways, love freeways, or does it not matter? Do you prefer tornadoes, wildfires, blizzards, humid air, dry air, having all four seasons, thunderstorms, nor'easters, long summers, short summers, earthquakes or volcanoes? You are gonna get a ton of different opinions, because we are all different. For me personally..... Texas fits my lifestyle. However my heart will always belong to Arizona. |

There is not a "best state" but there are some that are better than others for specific needs and issues and concerns. Good Luck in finding the right place for you and/or your family. I lived in Europe [Germany and France]. Americans on average work too much and don't get enough back for their work. Our culture revolves around work, which is not a bad thing necessarily, but there's much more to life. America is also IMHO less family friendly than Europe. Many things in America from the workplace to politics, even living arrangements and lifestyle, work against strong, healthy families and communities. That said I'm not by any means saying Europe is perfect, and Europe is a diverse place ... not all European countries are the same, obviously. And America is a very big and very diverse, multicultural place, so it's difficult to make generalizations. Some [not all] Americans have a either a black and white negative view of Europe often based on their particular ideology, and it's generally incorrect IMHO in numerous ways. Some leftwing Americans put Europe on a pedestal because of Democratic Socialist governments and policies, they especially have a hard on for the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden. They are either fairly naive and gullible or shills. Some [not all] Europeans also have a negative view of the U.S. based on their ideology and the biased news and viewpoints they here continually. MANY Europeans think they know American and American culture, but they really don't and can be quite ignorant. What almost all Europeans don't fully grasp about America is how physically big the country is, how really diverse it is. |
