How about all those kids that spend years in college, rack up thousands in debt.......only to graduate and discover that there are NO JOBS for them and they end up working at Dairy Queen.

any adult who is still in a minimum wage job obviously never planned ahead, nor took advantage of the many educational opportunities available. you see the problem with the welfare state is that is makes people complacent and destroys incentive to better one's self. raising the min wage does the same.

Why do people concider an entry level job a career? These low paying jobs were meant for teenagers...or freeloaders, and they are just the beginning. When I started working, minimum wage was 2.10$ and I could still by a new car...but I was living at home. Now I make almoist 45$ an hour....

Why do companies send jobs overseas? Because costs here are so high that it is cheaper to manufacture overseas and pay the shipping costs back than it is to manufacture here.

Why are costs so high? Regulation, taxation, labor costs.

Your solution is to raise labor costs even more. Brilliant.

Your other option is to go protectionist and not allow imports. That would force the jobs to come back but you can forget all the goodies you are able to buy cheaply at Wal-Mart. You'll be paying $3000 for computers and $3000 for televisions and your Christmas toys will probably triple in cost. Your shrimp and your catfish and your fruit and vegetables will skyrocket to cover the costs of paying Americans $9.00 an hour plus health benefits and high taxes. Your plastic garbage cans and furniture will cost way more than they do now. Your purchasing power will go down.

No matter how much you want it or how emotional you are about it...it does no good to try to manipulate the price point on the supply and demand curve. You'll just create a shortage or a surplus and screw things up for a lot of people and make it worse with unintended consequences.

Once again the middle class gets crapped on. Obviously the rich owners arent going to pick this bill up, they will cut hours, hire less people, and raise prices on goods and services. I can't blame most of them its their business they want paid. The easiest way to cut cost is cutting labor, its a simple idea and requires little effort on the part of owners. Unfortunetly workers will be expected to do double and triple the amount they should be doing and probably not see a penny raise for their efforts. Who will pick up the tab on this increase? Simple the middle class once again. We will be forced to buy goods at a higher price and that will take money out of our pockets that we cant afford to lose. I work my butt off and I'm an getting nowhere. The rebublicans are for the rich, the democrats are for the poor (and rich also), but nobody is for the middle class. The day the middle class dies is the day america dies, and I fear that day is fast approaching.
