No one has ever seen a perfect circle, nor a perfectly straight line, yet everyone knows what a circle and a straight line are. Perceived circles or lines are not exactly circular or straight, and true circles and lines could never be detected since by definition they are sets of infinitely small points. |

I would never watch anything associated with your shitty name. Quoting: ksjf 29246893 the reason you're not making #2, Shyamalan, is because no body wants you to. And over the years I have come to have a special place in my heart for Lady in The Water -- even though I didn't love it when I watched it for the first time. In retrospect, I think that was a mistake in advertising and marketing -- I had come to expect another movie like 'Signs' (or Unbreakable or The Sixth Sense) and advertising & marketing led me to believe that was what I was going to see. Instead, if they had marketed it as a modern day faerie taile, I would have gone into it with a completely different set of expectations. |

Zombietard User ID: 33732052 Argentina 02/14/2013 02:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Happening was clearly a GLP movie... they just shouldn't have used the kooky hippie guy to get the point across - that is what killed it (and made it seem like a joke). Up until that moment it was going strong. Also, they took the cheap way out and made it "all over with" too fast. He also probably should have killed everyone off. Quoting: tandym But despite its flaws, I have watched it several times anyways :-D To me "The Happening" is/was more like a vignette about this plant apocalypse. You don´t get the full story (like a lineal-traditional film), you just get to accompany some characters that survived the beginning of the phenomenon, and share for a while their journey. Did the plants prevailed in the end?, did humankind invented some kind of weapon against the plants? Did humans survived? we don´t know and we never will, but we saw the beginning. That´s the movie I like most of Night Shyamalan. |

Instead, if they had marketed it as a modern day faerie taile, I would have gone into it with a completely different set of expectations. I liked "Signs" a lot. (Having Mel Gibson play the lead certainly didn't hurt. I've been a Gibson fan for decades.) I also enjoyed "Unbreakable", though I did not realize it was an M. Night movie when I saw it. "The Sixth Sense" is my all time favorite M. Night movie, though. It was brilliant and terrifying, and the ending took me completely by surprise. Those are the only three M. Night movies I have seen. As a result of this thread, I'm planning to watch the rest now. I've really liked what I've seen of his work so far, and I imagine that even some of his poorer works are still far superior to the standard Hollywood fare. One of the drawbacks of producing masterpieces is that people return with such high expectations that when you release a work that is merely very good, people will be disappointed. |
