I love helping kids and working with them, just wondering if things are economically good for teaching jobs. Anyone have any information on teacher unemployment and if my chances of getting a job in the future as a 22 year old is slim or high?

Teaching isn't all that bad in the states any more for employability. I have a few friends in districts in So Cal, and most of the teachers are under 30. Districts are offering early retirement to old school teachers to get rid of their larger salaries. But it is unanimous, if it is you passion now it won't be after 4 or 5 years in the classroom.

I've heard only good things about becoming a teacher. One woman told me that each year they get more pension and now she is up to her full pay.

Don't forget all of your holidays and your fairly easy schedule. Kids are always awesome if you love them.

The adage if you believe your kids will succeed they will. If you believe your kids will fail they will.

Go for it if it's a dream. There's substitute teaching. There are charter schools. There are specialty schools such as Montessori.

Much Luck!
But Lord, he stinketh!

DONT DO IT!!!

My wife has an early childhood education degree. You know what its worth? Toilet paper... no wait, its worth way less than TP, as we are still paying for many years on something that she might as well use for TP. She can't find any work as there is way more teachers than there is for a demand of it.

Just my 2 cents.

I like cars.

All day I work on cars.

When I get home.... the last thing I want to do is work on cars.

A mechanics car is almost always a piece of shit.

Think about that....

I enjoy being a teacher, but with the number of kids that lack proper home training I don't know how much longer I have left in me before I walk away from it.
