circumventing minimum wage
Straight commission and independent contractors. I did an interview before I became self employed, he asked me what if you worked 40 hours and earned nothing. I said that would never happen. I didn't get the job. So I took on a couple straight commission jobs to get the feel of make what you earn. Liked it and now I am self employed. So you will see a lot more straight commission jobs and independent contractors.

I've done well but always could be better. Bad economy works better for me and in the last 4 years 2 of my best. If that tells you anything.

Re: circumventing minimum wage
Most people who work for commission or piecework expect to make a lot more than $10/hr, so the employer (oops client) will have to be prepared to share more of his profits.

When my kids were 16, they wouldn't take a job for less than $16/hr... of course where they lived you could get a job washing dishes or in a fast food place for that wage.
