USGS says it had a depth of approx. 10 km. Due to the shallow depth USGS expects a very strong shaking close to the epicenter area. Luckily this area is only sparesley populated. Nevertheless, this earthquake is very dangerous for the people livng in the greater epicenter area. |

It has remained unexplored largely due to people falling ill by getting too close. Could it have activated due to the asteroid coming close and ready to fire? May be far fetched but just my thoughts. If you google Yakutia you will see the area. It is believed to be why they had an asteroid that "exploded" before it hit the ground and leveled several miles of trees. |
