It just gives me an image of someone who is scared. Its not that they want to fill the world with love, or even go to heaven, they are just terrified of going to hell. Answering OP's question, in my experience anyways, I decided after 19 yrs or so of believing the Christianity story that it was not the end all be all of everything. At first it was scary, I felt lied to and alone. Then I started exploring other ideas of life and God. I began learning and expanding, and now I feel like a little kid again in awe of the universe and all the concepts of God, because the one thing I know now is that I don't know it all, and its ok. |

The truth: No one knows for certain how everything came to be, anyone who claims otherwise is a liar. As far as anyone can prove all of the so called religious books were created by human beings. Did you know that there is a certain form of epilepsy that causes it sufferers to experience religious ecstasy? Perhaps this is the basis for all reveal religions, perhaps this is why so many ancient cultures revered these individuals. Do they perceive the truth? Who knows for certain? Most of them explain their vision as showing them how everything is connected in a web of awareness. Perhaps the ancients lacked the vocabulary to fully explain their visions and interpreted it is a voice outside themselves.
