First if you earn minimum wage then claim 10 dependents on your w4.
This will have your employer deduct hadly any federal withholding from your paycheck.
You wont make enough to owe anything at the end of the year anyway so why give uncle sam an interest free loan?
Second... its a fact that a "minimum wage" pushes out jobs. Period.
I own a service station (hypothetically). During the summer some 14 year old kids with nothing to do but get in trouble could get a job wiping windshields and pumping gas. Nope. At 7.25 /hr its unnafforadble Go ride your bikes all day kids and get arrested with nothing to do.
Minimum wage is not meant to support families.
And if raising it "helped" people why don't we make it 100 $ an hour and all be rich?
To answer the question though I found a two bedroom apartment here with utilities for 700 a month. Not the best part of town not the worst either.
So at 700 a month one would need to work about 100 hours.
Or two roommates each working about 50.
But kids these days are huge whiny pussies who cant handle living with roommates or having to turn the thermostat to a slightly uncomfortable level to get by....
It's what we all did. Gen y quit being such whiny ass bitches.
