This astroid is moving slower than predicted. According to Nasa's website:
DA14 would be traveling Asteroid 2012 DA 14 is traveling at about 17,450 miles per hour (28,100 kilometers per hour), or 4.8 miles per second (7.82 kilometers per second) relative to Earth.

But... according to this live site, it's traveling 6.2km/s which is much slower than it was predicted.

Could such a "jolt" caused by the earth's gravity
break up the asteroid into pieces ?

In this pic the asteriod is spot on. The backround is moving but the asteriod is on a direct path to earth + 50.000 miles. Astronomers must have some very good instrumentation to estimate so precisely.

*Every dot* in this photo is *Moving together and in the same direction with the asteroid* means we have *Fragments* here small but dangerous because the asteroid can escape from the gravity of earth considering his mass with his spead and his inertia, But...

a smaller fragment with lesser mass and inertia could be

one of them can wiped out a town

i hope it will stop here with no more incoming fragments

But...there many close passing asteroids the last years
and they are increasing

one of them has Earths name on it soon or later

as we are entering in the spiral of our galaxy material
increasing, means..we have start to swim in a thicken cloud
of asteroids comets moons and planet sized rocks or bigger
objects

the dark side of the moon is a good example of what this
strafing of asteroids and other rocks can do

Here, in light of the the statement by NASA, I repeat my post of several days ago, written to the shills who are so certain there is not doom in this.


BTW, there would be no "earthquakes" as we know it on a football field sized solid rock, but if there were, that would only be movement between various pieces, which are connected by the most delicate forces imaginable.
