My rule is don't answer the phone or door unless you are expecting it.

I can explain it. It's a call center. What they do is call you and put YOU on hold until one of their prisoners is available to speak with you.

That is weird.

Happens to me all of time.

I got a call today from a 1 800 number that I had noticed calling me a couple times over the last few days. I tend to ignore calls unless they leave a voicemail and I think its something I actually need to address, so I didn't answer the first few times and they didn't leave a voicemail so I figured it was just a telemarketer. for whatever reason when it rang today I answered, and it was just dead on the line, but the call was still going. I said hello several times and gave them a minute but no one ever answered...the call just kept going silently.

maybe related? maybe just nothing.

either way, weird, I didn't know it was possible for phone calls to get all mixed up like that.

Do you know anyone that died recently? Sometimes they will call and you won't hear anything...

So, are they also putting the EVP messages on the cell phone videos?

do you know what mobile carrier he has, Dr?

I like how you think. If I don't recognize the name on my caller ID I don't answer the phone. No exceptions. And if I'm not expecting anyone at my door I don't answer.

i have AT&T too. hmmm. is this something that could be caused by the sun acting up? sorry if that's a dumb question, i honestly don't know anything about this kind of stuff..

You know what would help? Post the numbers that are calling and let's see if any match up? Or maybe just the area code and last 4 digits if you're worried about someone's privacy?

I just received 2 blocked calls 40ish mins apart. I barely ever get them so i never answer them. I thought it was unusual?

just looked up the number that I was getting calls from and saw several comments that it was a bill collecting agency that calls repeatedly whether or not you're the person they're looking for and just pesters you repeatedly. As far as I'm aware I don't owe anything so I don't think it was me they were looking for when they called.

For a little while I had a land line and we got those calls all the time, where they'd ask repeatedly for "Mr Smith" or something and act rude or nasty when you tell them it isn't you, and then they call and start the whole thing over in a couple hours.

I've never had where they call and you just hear nothing at all, that's what struck me as odd. Especially since that's basically what the OP described.

I always have luck typing the number into google, it will usually tell you if it has been reported as a scammer or telemarketer

Yeah, don't answer the phone if it's an unknown number... If the call is important, they will leave a message.

Multi-state prank call doom!

Bad idea on the not answering the door. At very least, ask who it is. Lots of daytime home invasions happening here in So Cal. The MO? Knock on the door during the day, if no answer, go around back and kick a door in. This is happening quite a bit. There's been cases where women have been home alone and not answered the door. Needless to say.. These haven't ended well at all!
Just so you all know. Be safe. If you ask who it is, and you don't know them, don't worry about being rude and saying I'm not opening the door. What do you care if you offend a stranger. And this goes for people in uniform too. Utility workers, mail carriers etc. If they have something to say, they can say it through the door. If they need a signature, tell them to leave it on the door mat and step back. If they come at you, you have time to step back and slam the door.
There are a few sickos out there. Don't live in fear, but always be aware..

is it only on cell phones? I had one these days from another country.. never had this before

but this sounds like an exchange problem.

all calls are relayed by a computer.

sounds like it was hacked, thats my opinion anyways :)
