It is believed that the incident may be connected to asteroid 2012 DA14,

How can someone claim that a meteor seen hitting in a northern hemisphere location is "connected" to an asteroid which is approaching steeply from the southern hemisphere? The meteor had to have been approaching from a completely different orbit than 2012 DA14... I swear, RT is trying to make CNN look good on this asteroid by comparison. Think about this for one minute. 2012 da14 could have broken up hundreds or thousands of years ago while it was near us or afar causing a different orbits but very close depending on size and shape of the objects. Do you realize the energy it takes to create such a huge change in orbit? Plus if the orbits are different, then the objects won't be close together hundreds or thousands of years later.
