That's right; most people don't run the water long enough after brushing to flush all of the paste through the pipes, and it eventually congeals into a big ugly blob.

Been spitting my toothpaste into a wastebasket for nine years now in this place; have not needed to call a plumber for anything.

Another good tip to prevent slow drains in your shower: Pour a cup of baking soda over the drain, followed by a cup of white vinegar.
After the fizzing is over, flush it all down the drain with a pot of boiling water.
