Nobody can shoot down a meteor, here's the math.
[link to news.yahoo.com]

Russia's space agency Roscosmos said the meteorite was travelling at a speed of 30 km (19 miles) per second and that such events were hard to predict.

30km per SECONDS peeps.

That is 30 x 60 x 60 = 108000 km per HOUR.

Convert that to Mach speed, divide by 1225.03 =

You get MACH 88.1

DO YOU HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA HOW FAST MACH 88.1 is ?!!!

YOU GOT ANYTHING approaching even 1/5th of that speed? Or even 1/10th of it?!

Speed is irrelevant. We landed on the Moon. How fast is the Moon traveling through space . . .

Would not catch up to it if fired from BEHIND it; but could theoretically nail it if coming from 45 degrees either side of center, distances depending.

Take the math a little further, at that speed compared to the rock still coming how far away would they they have been if they were the same object at one time and this is a 'chip' knocked off.

Those reporting don't ask the obvious question:

I See the video here Mr. astronomer. You tell me it is going 30,000 KM PER SECOND, BUT, I SEE IT and it IS NOT moving that fast. Explain that to me

Ummmm, an object can be going at exactly 0km/hr and still knock it out of the sky (or be knocked). Try it. Go stand still in front of a moving truck.

Extremely Moronic Person

EMP is just magnetism.

What do you think even the biggest magnet in the world is gonna do to a rock zipping by at Mach 88?

Than to post an ignorant idea and remove all doubt."
