Of course you corrected for height above the ground in a linear fashion.

On the ground is one thing, but up the air becomes increasingly thinner and sound travels faster.

As the sound travels downward it slows through the thicker atmosphere.

But ofcourse you people think it was some covert technology that made the asteroid crash.

That meteor was huge, if that explosion had happened on top of manhattan, all that glass...would of been crazy.

If that thing had hit the land it would of been devastating.
