I have been doing this a seriously long time. I have tried everything suggested. I have worked with great minds on cool projects, consulted, schooling, own business, etc.

I am proficient in at least a dozen languages. Sure it's cool learning a new language or using a new framework but really it's all the same shit and has been for years... loops, conditions, functions, yada, yada... I used to enjoy the feeling of getting it all to come together. That exact moment you realize the fruits of your labor! Great feeling and kept me coming back but lately for me that has faded too.

I have built too many programs, websites, phone apps, databases, etc. that have come and gone. It's crazy when I think of some of the money people invest in something that is not even tangible only to have it disappear in a few years and either die or be replaced with a new updated version.

It's a great field for fresh young minds but my mind is not so young and fresh anymore. I am really at the point in my life where I would rather work a stress free senseless job with more free time and focus more on my friends and family...

Well, if you've got yourself prepared for a financially independent retirent, there's nothing wrong with retiring. I'm close to 70 and lost my retirement funds in a couple of failed startup ventures. Believe me, working in the software industry is a whole lot better than greeting at Walmart.
