The New York Times published an unbelievable piece on the minimum wage
Well, at one time, NYT understood basic economics and the harm of minimum wage laws. Below is a January 1987 NYT editorial:
The Right Minimum Wage: $0.00

The Federal minimum wage has been frozen at $3.35 an hour for six years. In some states, it now compares unfavorably even with welfare benefits available without working. It's no wonder then that Edward Kennedy, the new chairman of the Senate Labor Committee, is being pressed by organized labor to battle for an increase.

No wonder, but still a mistake. Anyone working in America surely deserves a better living standard than can be managed on $3.35 an hour. But there's a virtual consensus among economists that the minimum wage is an idea whose time has passed.

my first job paid me $3.35/hour working at McDonald's when I was 14.
I'm a Libertarian Constitutionalist.

I don't give a shit what you do with your own life, whether you make it a success or a failure, that is an outcome of the choices you make, but please take responsibility for yourself and don't make ME pay for YOUR choices and we're all good.

Repeal the 17th Amendment and the Apportionment Act of 1911!

Thread: First steps down the road to a return to the Constitutional Republic that we were intended to be.

Restore the Republic.

It's a flower, not something to be feared.

We have the same poop in the UK

As an idea its good but soon with increases above inflation you reach the point that the slave earns a little .less than the trained monkey

Which makes a mockery of all the low pay and training to be good. At your skilled job
