The Moon: Seriously, no Revisitations in 4+ decades?
Alright, here goes.

The question isn't whether or not you believe we went.

The question is for those who believe.

Seriously, why haven't we been back in over 40 years? I'm not saying that means it was fake, I'm just curious why man would stop reaching for the stars.

After the Wright Bros. flew that first airplane, did they say, "OK, we did it, no need to take it any further?"

Again, before you call me a hoaxtard or whatever, I'm not saying it was fake. I'm just curious what everyone feels the reason is for not returning.

Thanks.

There is no dark side of the moon. Matter of fact, it's all dark.

I understand the arguments as to why it was a hoax. I'm asking the believers (NOT attacking them) how they justify a no-revisit. And I'm asking in all seriousness.

Assuming it was real, what would be the justification for lack of further exploration?

I think we did go, but the astronauts suffered horrific mutations as a result of cosmic radiation exposure.

The people who were interviewed on 'return' were the emergency doubles. The real astronauts were taken to Area 51 to be cared for and their mutations/new powers examined.

Congress approves all funding. They cut funding for Apollo before it was even finished. They redirected it to the shuttle program that stagnated for 30 years.

So the question becomes if NASA still has a budget in the billions, why can't that money be allotted toward more moon exploration?

I don't understand the reason for not going back.

But why go back? To accomplish what? We can send robots to do so much, for long periods of time and for less than a human.

I honestly think we may have found out some shit we didn't really want to know - or at least that the government didn't want the public to know. I think we've been back, but much more covertly.

I can't begin to imagine what the truth might be, but it makes exactly no sense for a species that likes to settle and control every patch of viable land it touches to visit someplace like the moon and never return.

I can't imagine that we are staying away (or keeping our visits secret) without a very good reason...

OK, this is what I hear a lot and it bugs me. I'm not saying the moon landing was a hoax. I'm saying I can't see justification for not continuing further exploration.

"Why go back?" is the common chant.

In 1492, Columbus sailed the Ocean blue. When he returned to Spain, did he say, "OK, we've been there, no need to ever go back"?

Moreover, what robots? Lunar probes I take it? Why fly toy plane when you can fly in a real one?

Robots are part of the process, but they don't justify never making a manned return trip.

This is my thinking as well. Terra Nova! But we're never going back after a few visits in the late 60s/early 70s?

As far as seeing something we weren't supposed to...it's argued the government first had formal contact with ETs after Roswell. Assuming that's true, if the aliens didn't want us on the moon, they probably would have told us before the Space Race.

Unless Roswell was BS, and we first became aware of ETs with the real moon landings.

But I have a hard time believing ETs warning us to never go back is the real reason.

I thought we where told to "get off their lawn!"

But then again, maybe we only had to go once....to set up the stargate? Now they go all the time.

Or maybe it's legit that they never went in the first place!

Or maybe they just ran out of money and or interest!

Or maybe it was just a big fundraiser and they went once....but then just kept collecting the cash with everyone thinking we would go back!

Whatever it is....I'm sure they will never tell us the truth!

Dude, that's irrelevant and a poor answer. The government still spends billions of dollars on shit, poverty or not.

Poverty and social programs are a weak excuse to never fund another moon mission. I don't buy that answer.

NASA's budget has been hacked and slashed since Apollo. They also don't just get a lump sum to do whatever they want. Their budget is approved for individual projects and often cut from what is requested for those. You want to go back to the Moon, talk to Congress. The problem with that is most politicians are more worried about the next election. Trips to the Moon and Mars won't pay off for them in their term and they definitely don't want it to pay off for the next guy.
