Thousands of dolphins spotted near San Diego 2/15/2013

Dolphins do not travel in massive hordes like this. Even the scientists quoted in the article say it's rare to see a pod of over 200. Might they all be fleeing some imminent catatrophic coastal event either geological or meteor strike or...? Were they heading further out to sea or back in toward shore?

Ok the Papal Resignation added to the shutdown of CERN for 2 years and now this unprecedented mass-gathering of dolphins...any ONE of those events would be improbable...3 hits like this cannot be just random
