How do you explain children dying of malnutrition in Africa?

What did they 'chose'?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34525411

Fail to see how your questions are related, but..

1 - I'm not going to try to explain 'how' this has happened - but if you do a google search you can find out a lot of useful information about how inequalities have arisen.

2 - It is true that life is often horribly unfair. However, we sitting here, contemplating these things, have choices, even if they may be limited due to circumstance. We can choose to make the best of what opportunities we do have.

Re: What do You think happens after we die?
lol, I realize that.

The point was within the language you take for granted. We all take for granted.

Meaning, when we say something like that it further belittles, shrinks, and in any other way -- makes light of our incredibly amazing ability. We ACTUALLY CAN consider the universe... In fact, just that fact alone, makes us more interesting, and amazing than anything else known in this massive universe. I think as a collective, we have forgot about this and don't really appreciate or explore this more.

I was just trying to point that out without spelling it out.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34139889

Ok, I thought you were insinuating that I was a weirdo or something!

But I'll (try to) say this:

I think that the very fact that we think we are special, interesting, amazing, whatever shows that we are not.

I mean, people seem to think that we are special because we have developed some unique ability to communicate with each other and consider the universe we live in, but the very fact that we can do that means that it was inevitable that we would be able to do that from the very beginning.

If it has occurred somewhere in the universe then it is NOT special, it is normal. It is how the universe works.

I hope I'm wording it in a way that makes sense, but the very fact that we exist means that we are not special. If we didn't exist then we couldn't exist and wouldn't be here to consider our existence.

Re: What do You think happens after we die?
What troubles me more than death, is the idea that injustice may stand uncompensated. I simply have to believe in "universal justice", or God, for a continued state of peace - even if I'm deluding myself. That's the primary reason that I cannot - and will not accept atheism. Atheism makes all things permissible - even desirable - if you follow the logic.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1663367

I don't know what you mean by "Universal Justice". Justice is a concept invented by man in attempt for people to live together as peacefully as possible. It has nothing to do with the death of organisms.

I also don't understand what "Atheism makes all things permissible and desirable" means or what it has to do with death.

Re: What do You think happens after we die?
I just wish I could say something to comfort my father and mother as well. They seem som afraid of death. They cant even talk about it.

I think its not the end. More of a beginning. I am a little afraid too, but i dont think it just turnes black or that we are gone forever.

I also belive we have a "soul" or something that will live on. Not sure where its goes or what happens.

This therory about getting "home" is a good one. It feels right.

As a kid I always felt that we would become free when we die. Like floting around everywhere, without the body. With the ability to be everywhere, on earth, in universe, where ever we want.
 Quoting: Mr. Andersson

If it just turned black and we were gone forever, then what would be the point? I mean, here we are, floating on this little blue marble in the middle of absolutely no where, and we are born, then 80 someodd years later we die. It makes no sense.

Obviously we have NO idea of what is really going on. We can't even fathom an end to the Universe. We aren't even thinking in the terms we need to understand what this Universe is all about. We don't have a clue.

But honestly, I think it's ok to not have a clue. I'd rather say, you know what? I don't know, and I'm really ok with that! Then to jump on some religious bandwagon that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside because they claim to know the truth. I honestly don't think any of us are going to meet a Wise Old man, with a long white beard.

The only thing that I do know, is that WE don't know. And because of that, I see no reason whatsoever for all of this to have no meaning.

What would happen if we all found out tomorrow that life after death really is bliss and a perfect peaceful happiness? We'd probably all knock ourselves off then, if we knew for sure, wouldn't we?

I think we're souls in search of wisdom. Once we get enough wisdom we're rewarded. I don't know what with. But my guess is that there are elevations of vibrations. With enough knowledge gathered, we have a better chance of getting to that level. Our souls aspire to that level. So we pick a certain situation to be born into, that'll give us a unique perspective on the world. An ant, for example, may have an extremely complicated and troubled life, but there's knowledge to be gained there. A bird, mammal, always hunting for food, more knowledge to be gained. Maybe our soul would choose to be born in a remote and desolate village in Africa as a black child who has so little to eat, they die within the first year. I would bet there is wisdom to be gained from that experience as well. Short as it may be.

May sound silly to most people, but I really think that's what it's all about. It's the only thing that makes sense. Everyone is living a life chosen by our own souls. We go through many cycles. Hopefully we'll get another life, and eventually get to a certain place.

One thing I know for sure, these physical bodies of ours, they don't matter. They're just a vessel to help get the job done.

Re: What do You think happens after we die?
I believe when we die you reach 0 point. Below is darkness and above is light. Off to the sides is wonder. I hope I have a chance to explore other universes.
I don't want to believe this is it. I also don't believe the religon trap either.

So when I die I am going to the second door on the left. I'm going to get on my horse and ride.

Just think of it like this. It's something we have to do we can not escape death. Also you have to be born really can't escape that either.
What if being born is the same as dying? Someone being born says "Oh shit have to be born"

Round and round we go. Or ride the wave you choose.

Why must their be a point?

We are composed of mostly carbon, water and a smattering of a few other elements and minerals animated by a few chemical reactions and electrical charges.

Why are we special? We are made of the same stuff as the asteroid that just passed by, the same stuff as the rings of Saturn, the same stuff that is on your dinner plate, the same stuff that your laptop is made of. Why do you assume there is a point?

As far as the universe is concerned, we're just another speck of dust.

The American journalist Roger Ebert said: "I know death is coming, and I do not fear it. I was perfectly content before I was born, and I think of death as the same state."

I think of death the same way as Roger.
 Quoting: IFUK

Me myself find it very hard to belive that we are just a coincident made of some carbon and just happend to develop The abilty to think and reson with each other about stuff. Stuff like this for example? We must for sure be the only being on this planet that thinks about who we really are and why we are here?

The problem is that its not enough time to explore these subjects if you have to live like we (or I) do.

Too much stress with earth-problems. Like work, loans, politics, friends, to fit in, to look good, to be educated, have money etc. etc.

I know that not everyone lives like this, and I know that there are many with far worse problems. But anyway I live pretty much a standard life. Many say that it cant get any better than this. And I really cant complain, I live in a rich contry, I have food, many say that my contry is a free and democratic contry.

We get born, we get a our name in a church. We work all our life, many get their own kids, we have cars, houses, holidays etc. etc.

We get sick and then we die. Some think its black after that or the end of everything.

Some turnes to religion and think we go to heaven or hell.

Those are the options over here and I dont like any of them.

Personally I believe that we survive death. We are not our bodies. We are spirit/energy. After death what happens depends alot apon our self awareness. But basically, we all go through a life review where we reexperience every moment of our life, not just from our persective, but from everyones perspective whose lives we touched. From there we evaluate what we still have to learn and we can then go back into a new life if we so choose to learn those unfinished things.

That's the nut shell version. Others might say it's the nut ball version...that's okay. :)

Yours is the mindset I'm talking about. In the materialist universe, there is no right, or wrong - it's a matter of perspective. Justice is merely an abstract, delusory concept from the minds of the humans.

After we die we go to Heaven with 77 young virgin girls. (If you blew yourself up for a good cause)

However, if you were evil (like the bankers, politicians) then you go to Hell with a 77 old virgin woman.

Nature seems to be an analog to itself.

Some sort of death takes place when the child is no more and the adult takes its place.

The man of 40 is a new born to the old man of 20.

A sleepy child fusses and fights his bed time, then that same child cries and moans at having to wake early the next morning.

A singe drop of water, that is isotropic in a sea of water, freezes into a unique crystal that differs in some way from all other forms. Then, it melts back to the unity that preceded its crystal structure; but should that very same volume of liquid again freeze into a new crystal, it will not be the same as the first solid form, but again become as unique as the first was to all things.

Each new cloud formed never was and never will be again.

Living and dying is as the oscillation between waking and sleeping or freezing and thawing.

Your "youness" is a result of a bundle of ego-garbage that accumulates since the conception of your brain, and this will physically dissipate as your body shuts down, but you might transmigrate, that is to say, your essences will recombine into a new being, different from what you previously were.
