Hammer price was over 800k, while the estimate was only 400-600k. Someone wanted this creepy thing really bad. The question is...who? Is David Rockefeller retiring (wheeling his feeble way) to his private study on these cold dark evenings this week to jack off in front of this thing while sucking the blood out of a dead baby rabbit? Nobody knows...that's all part of the fun (and, of course, in no way a hint of the type of man who I think bought this) Good points. Who would buy that? Was it an illuminate wanting to keep it within that circle? SPEAK UP. SILENCE IS DEADLY! I am currently experiencing life at several WTFs per hour. |

I mean, I don't know of many people other than Rockefeller types who would slap down almost a mil (if you count auction fees and ny taxes) for a picture of a pope with a large rock laying on top of him. Even if you had some screwball multimillionaire wall street guy who was like madoff rich...you'd be hard pressed to actually imagine him seeing this and wanting to buy it for any rational reason other than a ritual one. This is obviously owned by someone who is worth billions...and is deviously parlaying that $$$ into some f'd up shit. |

[link to www.christies.com] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9725687 That was creepy and prophetic. In what way was it prophetic? Well first off, when Pope Benedict announced his resignation,a papal decree was implied when he included "Mary Mediatrix of all Graces" in his speech. It's on the Catholic website and that decree is related to a new dogma and a coming comet. Secondly, the Zohar has a prophecy that states “In the year seventy-three [2012/2013] the kings of the world will assemble in the great city of Rome, and the Holy One will shower on them fire and hail and meteoric stones until they are all destroyed, with the exception of those who will not yet have arrived there.” He notes that not all kings will be destroyed. Of those remaining, he says: “These will commence anew to make other wars. From that time the Messiah will begin to declare himself, and round him there will be gathered many nations and many hosts from the uttermost ends of the earth.” Signs in the sky have great meaning to many Catholics, especially lightning as it's often a sign or an omen. And what are the odds that two lightning bolts would strike the Vatican shortly after the moment that a pope resigns for the first time in over 600 years. Stars or comets in the sky often heralded significant events or epochs and what are the odds that a prophesied comet/asteroid would appear at a time when major events are happening on the earth and right when the papal electors are gathering in Rome to elect Petrus Romanus, their final pope from a 900 year old prophecy. |
