50.000.000 on food stamps, Obamacare going broke.

Yet Obama said things are better now, USA is doing good.
 Quoting: Interstellar Breeze

The insane thing is, this is just the first quarter, of the first year...and the Behemoth already needs more money!

The sheer cost of this is going to be insane...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

And worth every penny. That's the price to pay for living in a decent, civilized society.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17152779

A Mercedes Benz 500 is worth every penny, too. So let's make sure the taxpayers buy one for every family. It's what a decent society would do.

Oh, I was just being silly. Even though strawberries and rainbows are a nice idea, it doesn't mean that taxpayer health insurance is a good idea because it's not affordable.

I don't have health insurance. I sure as heck don't want to force others to buy my insurance.

I would also propose to you that forcing expensive insurance on the public is a way to guarantee there is never any innovation in medicine because it locks in the present system of treatment, which is actually extremely ineffective treatment.

The US keeps sliding down the scale of nations when it comes to mortality rates and infant mortality rates. That's because our system is both expensive AND harmful at the same time.

...

a "proper social safety net?" insert the word OPRESSIVE. It should be clear to those paying attention that Keynesian economics is a disaster.
The kind of nonsense posted above makes me so angry I can hardly type.

I prefer LIBERTY....and making my own choices.....not some distant knuckle head who thinks he/she knows what is best for me and my family.

FREEDOM!!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 703397

Nothing is more oppressive and freedom-limiting than poverty. Poverty is not just a matter of personal failure, but of societal failure. It is everyone's problem. Nothing could be more liberating than ensuring that everyone's basic needs are met. Far from creating an underclass of dependents, this would actually liberate people so they could pursue their real passions in life rather than being subjected to economic exploitation by the capitalist class.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17152779

Your sophist argument is a disaster in the making.

socialism/communism has failed everywhere. Wake up before the camps and firing squads "ensure that everyone's basic needs are met'.....by force and compulsion.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 703397

Socialism has failed everywhere? Trying telling that to Sweden and Denmark. They are certainly more socialist than we and yet have a higher standard of living. There's a reason for that: progressive policies work.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17152779

They don't work. What those policies have done is turn Norway and Sweden into moribund static societies. In the long run they will collapse and in the short run it isn't working at anything close to the promises.

Fortunately, my state will opt into the Medicaid expansion. That means I will never be without insurance again beginning next January. It also means that never again will I have to file bankruptcy for a life-saving operation. President Obama is definitely moving the country in the right direction, and those who can't see this are fools. A civilized country ensures the health of its citizens, and a shitty country does not. That's why this needs to happen regardless of the cost.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17152779

i think your right that a country should have an interestin the health of its citiceznry, but to the point where doing so will not collapse a nation.

this will not work, we should be incentivizing healthy lystles to prevent the need for excessive health care costs.

BUT that not the purpose, they dont want you healthy fool??

they want to launder your tax dollars thru this system

also the amount of pre- existing conditions that were budgeted was 100,000. and this budget has already been exhausted, second you can't get care for the pre existing condition only for treatments unrelated. thta means you can get insurance even tho you have a pre existing condition but the insurance wont cover that condition. you have been duped, we all have. this is the biggest farce ever. and idiots keep buying it up like its fucking gold.

And our "representatives" did this to us even though almost 70% of people wanted nothing to do with this...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Yes, and still no one marches on DC like the leftist-democrat-facisist-nazis do all the time. Oh well, let's just take it.
The Right Policy is Always Conservative

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President." - Vaclav Klaus

Why don't you move then. Oh, maybe you think it is better to steal from those of us who work.
 Quoting: STARLING

A better idea is for those who work to move - for the short term, and have everyone else get on welfare, food stamps, etc, and bankrupt this corrupt system immediately. When the dust settles, the productive folks can return, buy in for a song, and the folks who crashed the current system can go to work too.

When the government offers a free lunch, it should be accepted and used, but never with the idea of dependence, just the idea of taking all you can from a corrupt system.
