Parcel post if now standard post. It isnt available online yet so use parcel select, which is supposed to be cheaper than standard post anyways.

Just use Fedex ground (2 business days)...rates are comparable and you can schedule a pick up...at least that's what I do now.

I usually get the PO CONFIRMATION RECEIPT with the bubble mailers(cards etc.) i send- and a few weeks back i was told they dont do that any more.

A few yrs back i sent a Ted Williams rookie card--with the tracer-insured thank g-d-and customer never received it.When PO traced it--after cust complaint--they showed it leaving my PO and never reaching the local dispatch terminal--so cust was refunded and it took almost 2 yrs to get my ins claim back from the PO.

Point is even if all goes well-you are at their mercy.

On mine above--Ebay was not involved in the glitch-lost or grabbed by someone---but the seller is always 2nd no matter what.

I get packages in the regular mail all the time from eBay. I'm pretty sure they're not priority. Actually, most things I order have free shipping. I doubt they would send it other than parcel post for free shipping. Or am I not understanding what parcel post is?

God I hate the Post Office!!!!!
ALWAYS a line with only one person working......IF by any chance there are 2 people working counter- the other one is "busy" doing some other BS.

But what really pisses me off are the PRICES!

OMFG!!!!!

They like to make people think "Oh, it only went up 2 cents to send a letter"......but if you want to send a small package? Bring a bank loan......

And their "Flat Rate" boxes? HAHA!

The small one at $6 is big enough to send about 4 DVDs in.

If you need to send a pair of jeans you sold on Ebay? Well that's gonna take the Medium box at like $12!!!!!

And the Large? Barely bigger than the Medium and will run you like $17.

Jesus F-in Christ.

And UPS is no better......I sent a tiny ONE FUCKING POUND box from KY to NY and it cost me SEVENTEEN FUCKING DOLLARS!!!!!!

REALLY???????

WTF????????

I remember in the 90's sending a box that size for like $4.

We are so screwed. The dollar will soon be toilet paper.

These shipping rates have destroyed many small businesses that USED to make a living selling and shipping $10 items.....but now who wants to pay more for shipping than the product?????????

I'm sure eBay is if not one of their largest gernerators of income. Shipping is my biggest expense. Flat rate boxes did help me as most of the items I sell are small parts. But something larger like a diesel starter is 23 lbs, and wont fit in a flat rate box. I put it weighed 28 lbs, said $29$ for parcel post, when I put in 21 LBS (8 lbs lighter still $28) so if I would have put in the 28 lbs it would have went way over the $28 it said. Their shipping system is very fucked up.

I refuse to us UPS as they tear up the boxes big time, and charge you to pick them up. eBay is 90% of my income, so I'm kind of stuck.

parcel post has been removed by the USPS.

it is now standard post.

parcel select is the new option but it is not the same thing or a replacement, it is designed for regional business delviery i believe.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2310364

I am in the packing & shipping business and can tell you exactly what happened. Even the postmaster at our local post office was confused.

Parcel Post was completely eliminated. If you print your postage via an online method, which includes eBay the service is now called... Parcel select. However, if you go to the actual post office and ship that same package across the counter they can not offer you Parcel Select they have to sell you Standard Post. Funny enough, only people in our industry running independent p&s offices licensed by the post office as an "approved shipper" have access to both Parcel Select and Standard Post.

The funny part is that you actually get lower rates for parcel select that you can print online (like with stamps.com for example) than you will get across the counter at the post office Standard post....

EXCEPT for heavier packages. We have noticed our pricing system flips to favor Standard Post at around 50 lbs or more.

eBay has dropped the ball updating their systems... how sad huh?

Now it gets better... just recently the USPS changed their PRIORITY and EXPRESS services too... used to be called just PRIORITY MAIL for priority mail and EXPRESS MAIL for express service. They have now renamed those too to...

Priority Mail and Priority Express Mail.

Go figure... :)

Best we can tell is all they did is change the name for marketing purposes and now start issuing boxes that can be used for both services in one type box (many sizes) so instead of having just EXPRESS MAIL boxes AND PRIORITY mail boxes now they are shared for both levels of services... prices seemed to remain the same.

The best part of this experience was when our local Postmaster called me and said "You can't use PARCEL SELECT you have to use Standard Post.... what you are doing is illegal." I had to educate him and get him to start researching upstream... even our immediate USPS Approved Shipper rep didn't know. It went all the way to somewhere like D.C. before I got a return call with an appology. LOL

The Post Office is messed up (not that I need to tell you that.)

Good luck with everything.

I want to add to my last post to help you all out... esp people selling on ebay.

Open yourself an account with fedex and ups on their websites. It is free. You can then start building towards you OWN discount levels. You can ship on USPS already without an account.

For SMALL and LIGHT packages OR Small packages that can fit in the regional or flat rate boxes you can not beat USPS pricing. period. The REGIONAL A, REGIONAL B and REGIONAL C boxes are awesome. For example the Regional B Cube Format (comes in two formats one is more flat) is nearly IDENTICAL to the Medium flat rate box but typically HALF the price. The regional boxes are limited to 28lbs I think but are CHEAP CHEAP.

Once you get to about 5 lbs and/or a box with any size it will quickly shift to being much cheaper with Fedex or UPS. We are on the East Coast (Florida) and find that FedEx is typically cheaper for the entire East Coast of the US and UPS Cheaper For the West Coast States of the US. We can almost draw a line right now the center of the US and see this happen (from favoring Fedex to UPS).

Also... look if you ship a lot look into a company called Shipsurance for insuring your packages. They will cover USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL and Freight shipments but are WAY CHEAPER than the carriers directly. They also pay unlike what I have seen from the carriers... also you can get your insurance through them for $0.35 per hundred with NO MINIMUMS.

Hope my info helps everyone out.

Re: So now eBay took away parcel post shipping? WTF. They're allowing customer to pay for PP but won't allow the choice of PP...Another downfall
parcel post has been removed by the USPS.

it is now standard post.

parcel select is the new option but it is not the same thing or a replacement, it is designed for regional business delviery i believe.

One more thing... LOL. If you do open accounts with Fedex and UPS and print your own labels you can do FREE DROP OFF at any UPS Store or FedEx Kinkos store (most people have one close by) or an indepentent Pack and Ship (like us). Customers can drop off UPS, Fedex, DHL or USPS at our store for free. Saves you that stupid I think $5 per package home pickup fee. USPS has free pickup regardless from your home BTW if you request it online. With USPS doesnt matter if you have 1 or 50 packages it is free pickup. Just go to USPS website to request free pickup.

Ok... my last post. :)

Thanks for all the good info and all of it is accurate.

What you are missing though is the OP has made lots of claims here on the site and if he was any kind of large seller on ebay he would already know this.

OP is right now trying to figure out how to wipe the egg off his face and try to look good.

HEY OP.....NO SHAME IF YOU JUST GET REAL MAN

This site sniffs out bullshit so when you try the bullshit and get caught just drop the BS and move on bro

Point is even if all goes well-you are at their mercy.

thank g-d-and? What the fuck does that mean?

I went to usps today. No parcel post, or the new parcel select eith.
 Quoting: ChvyV8Bldr

OP it is simple.... USPS does not sell REGULAR POSTAGE on their website, never has done so. They only sell Priority Mail or Express Service (Now called Prioity Mail or Priority Express Mail) on the website.

If you want the lower services which inlcude postage or package services below Prioirty you need to sign up with one of their "postal resellers" like Stamps.com or Endicia. That is the only way.

eBay USED to offer Parcel Select on a somewhat hidden link a while ago but it has been long since removed best I can tell. I have not seen it in years and even the hidden link I had via that ebay/paypal hidden page even that link is no longer valid.

Where is typed above "USED to offer Parcel Select" was a typo it should have read "USED to offer Parcel Post" or "First Class Parcel"

I just skip over any seller that wants to use parcel post when I am looking to buy as it takes forever to get a package as a buyer I do not have to settle for that crap.
As an Amazon Prime user t everything in 2 days free or pay under $4 for next day air!
Get with the program and offer your Ebay buyers more service or someone else will...parcel post...right....
