Re: Something is up!!! Repudiation of the dollar!!! Its started!!
The Arabs at OPEC know how to play us perfectly. Raise gas prices till we complain so much we threaten with the use of alternative fuels. Hell they wait till we introduce legislation and drop it back down to the point of little complaint which was higher then the last point of no complaint but everyone is thankful it's not 4.65 again and we settle down, forget all about alternative fuels and national security and go back to sheeping like good sheep do.
That's the trick, take us to the brink of pissed, leave it there, drop it back but not all the way repeat process
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34398220

Dude you have it all wrong. It's not the greeday Arabs, although they are greedy LOL! Its the loss of purchasing power of the dollar. When OPEC has an agreement with say the US they (the market manipulators) agree to keep it above a certain price and the OPEC'ers 1rof1 agree to only sell oil in dollars. Alot of these Arab countries have predicated their national budgets on $90.00 oil. If they keep printing dollars like toilet paper the Arabs want more dollars for their oil. You think the top Arabs want the masses mad at them for not proving public services ?

This saying may put it into perspective: created by me !

"They are printing more dollars today, and they will need more of them to buy that same barrel of oil as it was yesterday, tomorrow"
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33034699

I should also add that the reason we are dependant on foreign oil is becuase the money printers want it that way. This enables them to export freshly printed dollars for oil completing the distribution of inflation. Thats why there has been no increase in green fuels and energies and why we are not utilizing and outright depressing our vast natural gas reserves. It's all about zee dollar !banana2

For those who have been paying attention to what is going on-this will come as no shock! Repudiation of the dollar has begun and is taking off! The way I know is that the price of gas is always the first indicator!! Gas has risen more than 60 cents in just the last 2 weeks! Here's the shock it has risen 14 cents in just the last couple of hours.... The looks like the dollar death is happening rapidly... I suspect it started in earnest when the Chinese announced OIl for Yuan!!! This may be it for the dollar!!
 Quoting: MaxMad

If it were caused by the devaluation of the dollar, all prices would climb at the same time. We are still in a contraction. Overall, wages are stagnant.
 Quoting: Instant Karma

I don't think so.
Because this is not a normal cycle of business there is
NOTHING to put pressure to raise wages when so many
people are out of work.

That means it's stagflation. The worst of both worlds.
Higher prices in conjunction with lower wages.

Thats the paper price and all should look to load up on the physical metals, going into the end of the month. I think we see more downside going into the Comex contract expiry, the last week of this month. I agree with the OP that the oil price is a good indicator of the weakness in the dollar although we have almost a 3 year high for the dollar on the index. Everything market is bullshit paper traded script and all price discovery mechanisms have been removed ! Prepare !

And one more thing. It is also the reason that they are using more additives and ethanol in gas so that you get less and less mileage as the world uses less and less oil.
It keeps consumption up while it goes down Hu ?

But notice the spread between Diesel and Gasoline has shrunk...

For over a month the entire increase in fuel prices has been laid off on over the road haulers, but now they are probably beginning to see some inflation from that, so they are shrinking the disparity between Gas and Diesel and now the consumer is paying at the pump instead of the shelves at Walmart...

They do this with food prices as well...they go up one time, then the next time they shrink packaging, then the next time the go up again...simple psychology, get you used to it in increments...

And I agree with you that the dollar is losing value at a staggering pace, but I don't think the end is here...yet.

There are also an equal number of places that are 3.75 a gallon and thereabouts.

There's enough real doom here, no need to exaggerate like all the gas is 5.19 a gallon everywhere. It's not.

I agree, but you can also thank government for that, because in that time gasoline taxes have gone up, and regulations on carbon emissions have been extremely costly...

But I state above, I acknowledge the dollar is losing value by the month, I just don't think the end is here quite yet...

We'll see how the markets react next week...a week shortened by Presidents Day!

One thing I can tell you for sure is this...beware the Ides of March, Q1 2013 is going to be even more dismal than Q4 2012, and they will start to get a feel for that from Q4 Retail reports in March. That means we're in a double dip depression with no real recovery in the middle, at least not any generated by anything more than Government Debt, so the Markets will have to pay attention to that...

While I admire your ability to carry on a conversation with yourself (schizophrenic much?), this is the third time gas has climbed to such prices; first seen in the summer of 2008 and also last summer.

While I have no doubts the dollar will eventually fail, we should be fine for a little bit while, methinks.

Yep. There is a good chance as money floods into purchasing of commodities as a hedge, that it could
go back to $150 bbl. And we will probably pay about
$7.50 to $8.50 a gal.
But, a lot of this discrepancy is due to state taxes
starting to skyrocket.
I don't know about you, but for me it's a one way street.
I don't get anything for my tax money.

They don't even have huge defense budgets so, they must be rolling in the dough, with higher state sales taxes,
with this inflation, gas taxes raised a lot also.
Income taxes to them, they get lottery more and more.
There used to be about 5 scratch offs. Now there are 50!
Then 6 drawings a week probably.

They aren't shoulding the unemployment and food stamps all by theirself and my county taxes pay for schools so,
these are the buzzards circling that get on my nerves
trying to pick our bones.

Me too! That confuses me to! Gold should keep rising as the dollor drops? Anyone care to explain in redneck terms?
 Quoting: GT500

Short answer: The precious metal markets are rigged.

Longer answer from what I've read:

The Fed provides JP Morgan with all the credit they need to force the price of precious metals down.

This is a win-win for the Fed (it's privately owned) and JP.

The Fed wants to keep the dollar strong despite printing dollars like there is no tomorrow. Pushing gold and silver down helps them to maintain the appearance of a stronger dollar.

JP benefits because they rake in millions each time they pull the price down. JP pays back the Fed with a small amount of interest paid.

The Fed can get away with this because the Fed is not audited. The monitoring agency (CTFC?) is in on the scheme, so the Fed and JP have no worries.

Many on here wont know how or why the repudiation of the dollar (thus hyperinflation) will begin. But I have always stated "when the price of gas goes up, on no news, you will know it has begun!" IT HAS BEGUN!

Plus JP gets the monopoly on the EBT card system for "playing ball".

Tell us what the price is in your area. Everyone should let us know what they are seeing...

In Panama City, FL, the price is about $3.69, which is an increase of about 15 cents in the last week.
